Difficult sibling names plus rubbish surname...

alasia · 06/03/2011 20:20

I'm pregnant with baby number 3.

DS is called Ellis Reece and DD is Amelia (Millie) Seren.

That alone rules out a lot of names I liked, such as Lily (DD gets called Millie jsut as much as she does Amelia), Eris, Camellia... on top of that, my surname is Short. Ugh.

So umm - can anyone think of any names that go?

I like names that are heard of but not too popular, or unusual - Ellis I think fits the bill so would like something similar for a boy, and for girls I like feminine names; current likes are Sapphire, Violet, Erin, Eden, Tabitha, Matilda...and Ayla jumped out at me the other day but no clue which way to pronounce it! :)

Suggestions very welcome x

Btw in case anyone notices, I have realised that my DD's initials spell A.S.S - only worked it out a few months after we had registered her though! :)

Viola, if you like Violet?
Erin is lovely and goes well, I think.

I would pronounce Ayla how it's spelled, Ay to rhyme with 'hay' and la to rhyme with 'the'.

Carmel, if you like Camellia?

For a boy maybe Dylan? No idea how popular it is though.

meditrina · 06/03/2011 20:42

For boys, how about: Marcus, Timothy, Luke, Lucas, Aylwin, Peter, Tobias?

For girls: I like Isla, Tabitha, Violet and Mathilda: how about: Agatha, Arabella, Constance, Mirabelle, Elspeth?

PrincessScrumpy · 06/03/2011 20:43

We have a short surname - we went for Lydia for dd and if she'd been a boy she would have been William (possibly a bit popular but it's the only boy's name dh and I agree on)

Am pg again with ID twins. Girls will be Heidi and ????, boys? No idea.

Sorry, that's probably not a huge help! Smile

Lol lilyberry - yes you're right, my actual surname is Short. So Ellis Short and Amelia Short ;)

I was going to go for Lola when I was pregnant with my dd, but chickened out - and I really do like Sapphire but...Sapphire Short? Doesn't go does it?

Sabrina Short sounds nice

Tristan Short too

mixedmamameansbusiness · 07/03/2011 13:12

Ayla was our name for DC3 if he happens to op out a girl and for us is the Turkish spelling of Isla if that helps.

Ah congratulations!

I am no good at boys names Grin

alasia · 07/03/2011 20:15

Haha me neither!

Ellis' name came to me at 6 weeks and stuck, amelia was only named on the day we registered her (!) so this one will be nameless no doubt!

I need something in a similar vein to Ellis...not too masculine but not girly, modern/unusualish but not too 'out there'.

Hmm...
