Lila-what do you think about this baby girl name?
We also consider Nella/ Nell

How would you pronounce Lila? Like Lie-La or Lee-La? Will the kid have to spend her life telling everyone how to pronounce/spell her name? Hate Nella and don't really have an opinion on Nell.

Lila is too like Lilo, Nella is worse, Nell not much better.

Is Lila pronounced like "lill-er"?

Lila!! It was my grandmother's name...and there was never any confusion about pronunciation. :)

I like Lila. Seems fairly clear how to pronounce it. Nell/a is nice but I would have it as a nickname eg for Helena, to give her more options.

I think Nella is lovely. Lila is too, but much more popular.

Lila - lovely name, pronounced exactly as it's spelt and it's always nice to have a family connection.

DD (2yrs) is Eliza - she calls herself Lila as a nn, people often comment on how pretty it is a name in its own right.

Firawla · 05/03/2011 23:04

I like both, but I know Lilas prn both leela and lyla so don't think the prn is necessarily that obvious as it can vary

KenDoddsDadsDog · 06/03/2011 09:16

I now two Lilas both pronounced differently. Prefer it with an 'i' sound rather than a 'y'

Lila when pronounced Lill-a is nice, don't like Lie-la or Lee-la sounds, much too harsh. Nella I actually really quite like, but it is very old fashioned sounding.
