We are stuck on a boys name, I like Thomas and James but our surname is Davis so I don't know if it sounds ok or not.

If not any suggestions of names that do go well? Confused

They sound ok to me.

David? Shock

Yes, I think you're right that James and Thomas don't go. Unless you were going to use Jamie or Tom as nicknames? Our surname begins with a V so we couldn't have James or Thomas either :(

I think pretty much any other boys names go as long as they don't end in an s.

How about

Adam
Callum
Cameron
Edward
Ewan
Gary
Gavin
Harry
Luke
Jonathan
Josh(ua)
Oliver
Peter
Robert/Robbie

They sound fine to me and it is pretty much impossible for a Thomas not to end up Tom anyway.
What's the problem with James V or Thomas V?Confused

Bit of a tongue-twister to go from an "s" to a "va" - try saying it out loud!

I'd avoid first names ending in s and prefer names ending in a consonant with the surname Davis.

William
Quentin
Patrick
Adam

all sound lovely with Davis imo.

There was an Alexis Davis at my school which I never thought was a great name, but James & Thomas go ok I think

How about

Samuel
John
George
Frederick
Henry
Gregory
Ethan
Aaron
Nathaniel
Noah
Gabriel
Mark
Liam
Maxwell
Eli
Reuben
Samson
Philip
Zachary
Jonah
Aidan
Caleb
Jonathan
Saul
Levi
Tristan
Niall
Josiah
Solomon
Matthew

I don't think it's a problem.

I actually can't think of many times when my first name and surname are used together, out loud.

Am I just being thick?!! (likely) Grin

James davis sounds nice.I knew of one and I never thought anything of it as I like the name

DaisyDaresYOU · 02/03/2011 18:22

My dd is Ruby and B is her last name. Now that's a mouthful lol

SilkStalkings · 02/03/2011 19:53

Nah, still not convinced. James Van der Kamp sounds no trickier to James Davis.
