Since Susan got such a bashing here is the rest of the list. It started much bigger - these are the ones that dh likes too. I will leave Susan off for now Grin

Angela - love Angie nn
Augusta
Beryl
Hilda
Jane
Judith
Mary
Prudence
Rita
Sally
Shirley
Wendy (Gwendolen)

and Susan was dh's contribution

I might as well add dc's names as somebody seemed to think it important Grin I am thinking of a name change anyway!
They are Eli, Amos, Iris and Pearl.

Jane and Sally and Judith.

paulbrom · 23/02/2011 12:34

I love Angela and Mary, and Prudence is not something I would choose myself (been put off by my nana's friend Aunty Prue!) but I think it does work with your other DCs names. The others aren't "pretty" enough for a sister to Iris and Pearl.

I think your DCs names are lovely, and I think you would be doing a disservice to DC5 if you call it Ulysses, Mortimer or Susan when its sibs have such nice names. Any chance you could be persuaded back to Forrest? It goes much better and is much less...bizarre.

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 12:37

Sorry, Forrest is a definate no-no! It took me ages to persuade dh it was off the list Grin . I think Mortimer is quite stylish.

What am I on about, Forrest, you just need to TELL your DH that baby is Shem if it's a he :)
Shem has a pleasant sound and definitely sounds right with the other names.

Sometimes I wish I lived somewhere you could go a bit more bonkers with names. People do, but it's more the Bacardis and Nevaehs or crazy triple barrelling round here.

I'd also like to apologise for my overuse of the word "think" in my previous post Angry my new year's resolution to "be more articulate" is going swimmingly then.

But Amos and Eli sound gentle and manly like woodcutters who rescue baby deer, or poets, or geologists or something, and Mortimer sounds like a Woody Allen-type chaser of women half his age, who is full of neuroses and never happy.

If you see what I mean. I think it goes better than Ulysses though, I reckon he couldn't avoid being a bit arrogant.

paulbrom · 23/02/2011 12:45

Just seen on the other thread what part of the country you are in, as I thought you can afford to go nuts :)

I'd like to petition strongly for Shem for a boy, and Angela or Mary for a girl :)

OliveMalay · 23/02/2011 12:46

I like Angela, Beryl, Jane, Mary, Prudence - and Susan! :)

I love Jane!

HettyAmaretti · 23/02/2011 12:51

Love your DCs names!

TBH nothing in the list really comes up to the mark. Having seen current shortlists about the place I'm really rather amazed that you managed to choose such nice names for existing DC.

Joy
Hazel
Luna
Talia / Tahlia
Nora
Lorelei

Agree that Shem is perfect for a third boy.

Rhubarbgarden · 23/02/2011 13:09

I like Augusta, Jane and Judith.

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 14:36

Paul I will be trying for my SHem - but I feel relieved that we agree on something, so I don't have to panic that he will end up something I hate!
mildmanneredjanitor nothing is wrong with Susan, it is lovely, and on my list, but just got slated on another thread, so i left it off this list.
everlong tulip is lovely.
Hetty Love Joy - dh not so keen unfortunately, I have tried before. Hazel was on the list, but has been removed.
Thanks for the opinions!
