Basically, we have narrowed down our list to 2.

Mortimer (Morrie) and Ulysses.

What do you think? I know which I prefer, have a feeling dh might prefer the other. They are the only 2 we actually agree on (now I have told him Forrest is a no-no!)

Mortimer - Ulysses is terrible imho, sorry. Like Morrie a lot as nn.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 22/02/2011 19:58

Mortimer defo.

farquor · 22/02/2011 20:46

Mortimer.

Ulysses is so pretentious it's laughable.

piebald · 22/02/2011 20:50

Please not Ulysses

COCKadoodledooo · 22/02/2011 20:58

Ulysses would so be 'Useless' (or worse) at school.

lechatnoir · 22/02/2011 20:59

what Farquor said

gruber · 22/02/2011 21:00

Mortimer.

birdofthenorth · 22/02/2011 21:04

I really hate slagging off people's name choices but Ulysses is a shocker IMHO, sorry!

moodymama · 22/02/2011 21:07

Mortimer. Another no for Ulysses I'm afraid.

jonicomelately · 22/02/2011 21:08

Ulysses Shock

Mortimer at a push I suppose.

lagrandissima · 22/02/2011 21:08

Mortimer doesn't do it for me, I think "morte" (French for death).

Ulysses doesn't do it either - would be a nightmare in the playground.

Sorry not to be more helpful!!

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 08:27

Well, so far opinion seems to be on my side! I prefer Mortimer, and dh prefers Ulysses. I will probably get my own way, but we will see.
Interesting to read others comments - thanks!

Mortimer... "mort" is death in some languages so wouldn't go for that.

Ulysses... yes why not??

LaTristesse · 23/02/2011 11:11

I prefer Mortimer too...

vess · 23/02/2011 11:33

Mortimer.
And Forrest is way better than Ulysses!

kreecherlivesupstairs · 23/02/2011 11:43

My stock answer to shockers is - Seriously? Take my stock answer and choose something less likely to make your child a target.
If your DH likes Greek names, there are many more to choose from.

tummytickler · 23/02/2011 14:39

I think tbh we will probably go with Mortimer over Ulysses, unless I persuade dh to go with Shem.
Mortimer Edward Reuben (mn both family names for dh and I)
The Mort part does not bother me.
Forrest is definately out now i have persuaded dh to take it off the list Grin

Mortimer is quite distinguished, and Mortimer Edward Reuben sounds great. Please not Ulysses.

cece · 23/02/2011 22:04

I prefer Forrest
