What do you think of Finch as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.
my sons name he's twelve and still hasn't changed (hidden) it, was it o good idea? I was abroad when I named him and thought I could get away with it being so deeply foreign myself.

I quite like it

Galdem · 20/02/2011 14:04

Seriously?

mamadiva · 20/02/2011 14:05

He's had it for 12 years, nothing wrong with it.

Would'nt pick it myself.

Underachieving · 20/02/2011 14:10

Well if he's 12 and he likes it it's fine.

I admit though if my 11 year old brought home a friend and said "Mum this is Finch" I would find it odd.

Sarsaparilllla · 20/02/2011 20:57

I quite like it :)

southeastastra · 20/02/2011 20:59

cruel

Sarsaparilllla · 20/02/2011 21:33

Have you seen American Pie.....!!!!!????

That wasn't made 12 years ago tho, and it'll be forgotten about soon enough, definitely not the first thing I thought of

MelinaM · 20/02/2011 21:36

^Yes American Pie, I thought it sounded familiarGrin

LaTristesse · 21/02/2011 10:50

I like it too.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 21/02/2011 10:53

I'd assume it was a surname/nickname, but as it's been your sons name for 12 years I'm sure he does like it :)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 21/02/2011 10:54

I think I'd have the same reaction to the person who pondered meeting him as your DCs friend.
It is odd, but then I am very traditional ,mutters about strange new names>

TeacupTempest · 21/02/2011 11:32

I like it

thunderbird69 · 21/02/2011 16:32

i would like it but it makes me think of American Pie and also The Office.

LetThereBeRock · 21/02/2011 16:47

I don't like it at all. It sounds like a 70s tv detective, but why are you worrying about it now, if your son is happy with his name?

ThatllDoPig · 21/02/2011 18:31

Aw, why are you worrying about it after 12 years?

I think it a good character type name, and he will always stand out and be remembered by those he meets. He can always change it himself when he's older if he hates it!

BelligerentGhoul · 21/02/2011 20:54

I don't like it at all tbh but my opinion is hardly relevant nor anybody else's, surely? :)

vintagesocks · 21/02/2011 21:12

Definitely made me think mmmm Stiffler's Mum...

But if he likes it, why on earth worry?

rac123 · 21/02/2011 21:15

Makes me think of Atticus Finch who is a hero of mine.

pinkthechaffinch · 21/02/2011 22:06

It's a nice name.
