Final final girls shortlist (honest)

perpetuallypregnant · 19/02/2011 17:24

Gah - We are still struggling to decide on a name for dd4. Everyday I seem to like a different one of my shortlist. We will probably wait until she is born to make the final decision but wdyt of these? And which do you prefer?

Honest opinions

Elizabeth
Anna
Anya
Juliet/te
Gabriella

Middle names not decided either, I'll probably use one of these for a mn too so Anna Elizabeth for example.

There are a lot of others I like but these are all names myself and dh both like. He's happy to leave the final decision up to me.

Elizabeth and Juliet

Like them all except Anya. Not sure why I don't like this name but seems an unnecessarily fussy version of Anna

OliveMalay · 19/02/2011 17:55

All very nice.

I like Juliet and Gabriella best, then Anna.

COCKadoodledooo · 19/02/2011 18:50

Had ds2 been a girl he'd have been Elizabeth (Libby), so that's what I'd choose.

Otherwise, much prefer Anna to Anya.

cowboylover · 19/02/2011 18:56

I like Juliet and Gabriella best

I am not a fan of middle names but if I picked one it would be Gabriella Elizabeth combo x

mumtobee · 19/02/2011 20:06

I like all of them - I think Anya is lovely, very unusual. Anna is a little bit plain but still nice. Would you mind the shortened Elizabeth, Liz/Lizzie?
Anya Juliette would get my vote.

Jojay · 19/02/2011 20:07

All except Anya.

Guacamole · 19/02/2011 20:09

I like them all except Anya.

Tillyscoutsmum · 19/02/2011 20:11

Juliet and Gabriella are my favourite. Probably with Elizabeth as a mn

pointydog · 19/02/2011 20:16

I like Anna, Julia, Elizabeth and Anya in that order.

Stars22 · 19/02/2011 20:17

my favourite from your choice is Gabriella Elizabeth.

Trinaluce · 19/02/2011 20:33

Elizabeth or Juliet.

IMHO the extra -te for Juliet is redundant as the name is beautiful enough without them, and if you use them your child WILL have to spend the WHOLE of her life saying 'No, there's an extra -te on the end...'

pilates · 19/02/2011 20:50

I prefer Elizabeth, not keen on the others.

Greenwing · 19/02/2011 22:19

Love them all.
If I had to choose, in this order:

Elizabeth
Anna
Anya
Juliet (not ette)
Gabriella
ie the order you listed them in.

Notnowcato · 19/02/2011 22:27

I would use this order:

Anna
Anya
Elizabeth
Juliet (agree, not ette)

I wouldn't use Gabriella, or Gabrielle, at all I'm afraid.

How about Anita? (As I mentioned in another thread: it's a name I wanted to use but, with two absolutely gorgeous but nevertheless male children, I didn't get the chance, can I persuade you?!)

perpetuallypregnant · 20/02/2011 01:17

Ok thanks for the help.
Gabriella has been a last minute addition as I saw it on another thread and thought it was pretty.

Anna and Elizabeth are the front runners but I keep thinking they are a bit plain. I like all of the nicknames for Elizabeth, I quite like 'elle' and I do tend to shorten names.

I love Juliet but my mum pointed out she will probably end up getting Jules which I don't like at all.

Gah

The best thing about Anna is that it isn't shortened (one of the reasons we chose it for dd)it is also pronouncable in any language. Anna Elizabeth is lovely, so is Anna Juliet.
I also love Eliza, which could be used on its own or as a nn for Elizabeth.
All your names are lovely btw

growing3rdbump · 20/02/2011 09:57

My sister is Anna Elizabeth and I think it works really well.
I also love Anya.

OliveMalay · 20/02/2011 11:04

If you don't like Jules you can nickname her Letty or Jet.
