er. not harmonie. it's a made up word and i would assume you couldn't spell.

sorry.

that said, if you live where i do (in real cowboy country) for some reason it is culturally de-rigeur to make up spellings for baby names, and if your child has a name that anyone anywhere has spelled that way before, you're judged for not being very imaginative.

so, it's about context. i'd think you couldn't spell, but the red necks locals wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Deciduousblonde · 18/02/2011 19:51

I would go with Harmony.

It would cut out the need to spell it out to people all the time Smile

OliveMalay · 18/02/2011 19:57

Harmony

cowboylover · 18/02/2011 21:25

Its not made up its the German spelling which is where we first heard it but I can see why people would think so.

Thanks deciduousblonde: My name has an unusual spelling and it does get annoying sometimes.

Read the thread title quickly and read Harmonie as Hermione - it might just be me but it could get mistaken for that?

Def Harmony anyway IMO.

anonymosity · 19/02/2011 01:12

I know at least two Harmonies. Both grown up. Lovely name.

goplayout · 19/02/2011 01:15

Sorry, don't like either. What if she's tone deaf?!Grin

cece · 19/02/2011 01:15

Harmonie looks more like a name. Harmony looks more like a word. Does that make sense?

MelinaM · 19/02/2011 01:35

Harmony for me, Harmonie is too easily confused with HermioneSmile x

cowboylover · 19/02/2011 18:46

cece Thats totally my thinking as well but maybe just us!

12 weeks to decide and I cant wait! Grin

"Harmonie" is not made up, but German.

OliveMalay · 19/02/2011 21:30

Will you be living in Germany?

mathanxiety · 19/02/2011 21:32

Eintracht is another German word for harmony.

I think it sounds like an anti-depressant no matter what way you spell it.
