Hugh Lee?

Lee is our surname. Does the combination of Hugh and Lee sound like a chinese takeway dish (as my MIL rudely suggested!) I know longer first names would be better but most boys names I like a short, one syllable. (Hugo has been vetoed by DH so this is not a viable alternative).

Hmmm, confirmeed what I had always, sadly, suspected. Hugh can't be done Sad. Useful though as its a name I have loved since DS1 (this will be DS3) and can't quite let go of.

think you might need a longer first name,we have a one syllable surname and longer frst names seem to go easier with it..

boys names are tough!!

Hugo?

TransatlanticCityGirl · 11/02/2011 23:14

I think it does sound a bit odd, though I like the Hugo suggestion.

Miss Hoolie - isn't she in Balamory?

Sorry.

We had same problem with short surname...went for 2 syllables in 1st names....only they have all been shortened to one syllable over the years! To be honest, I don't think it really matters! Our kids have never suffered from it!

NO it sounds fine, really musical but get your dh to change his mind based on everyone hating it- have his official name as Hugo (so cool) Lee but you call him Hugh

nickelbabe · 12/02/2011 11:28

I agree with trying it as a double-barrelled name.

Lee is just too short for a surname (says she with 3 letters in her own surname, but i've got 2 consonents)

Megglevache · 12/02/2011 11:34

But Nickelbabe it just sounds nice.
It's not like it's Duncan Doughnahts or anything...Grin

OP what are your other boys names?

nickelbabe · 12/02/2011 12:28

Hugo Lee does sound good.
