We have a very short surname so i'm thinkinh of longer sounding first names for a girl.

Currently I like:

Madeleine
Annabel
Elena

What do you think? Not sure if they are similar type names but other suggestions along these lines would be appreciated.

Thanks for all of the suggestions...some more to think about.

I really like Lydia, but one of my good friends is called Lydia so I couldn't do it as I associate the name with my friend.

New list therefore:

1 Elena
2 Madeleine
3 Annabel
4 Harriet
5 Francesca

My DD1 is Madeleine and we've only ever encountered one other, although a few other Maddies (from Madison).

My DD is a bit bonkers (in a nice way), so Maddie/Mads suits her well but she can then choose to be Madeleine in later life.

We also have a short surname.

I also liked Isabelle/Isabella (shorten to Izzie/Issie) but have come across a few of those at pre-school age.

Matilda/Tilly?

Like your other choices too, although Francesca > Fran (inevitably) and not great with a short surname.

mandy1978 · 10/02/2011 17:40

we have a 1 syll surname and our girl names were:

eloise (my choice now!)
madelaine
francesca
isobel
romilly
jennifer
annabel
rosalind

cant remember the rest now!

xx
