DS is one
DP has a friend who is one but apart from him we don't know any other, not even in DS nursery.
But DP sister's best friend said she would love to use it if her baby is a boy.

Wow thank you everyone....I guess it's a popular name for a reason!!!

IMO I just feel it's one of those names that works right the way through life...Wink

Really popular - I know at least 4 baby Thomases, but I love the name Tom though. I would've wanted to call my son Tom if it wasn't my husband's name!

CPtart · 09/02/2011 21:12

Plenty. I can think of 3 with close family and friends immeditely

I have a Tom, he is 11 months. Havent met any other tiny Toms yet but that might be because our lives are no longer a giddy social whirl what with him being a second baby!

DD 3.8 has a very popular floral name, of which there will no doubt be millions when she starts in reception Grin

Forgot to mention that it wasnt a name I ever considered until the 20 week scan when we found out he was a boy

I can honestly say I saw him on the screen and thought "thats him, thats my boy and his name is Tom"

Ridiculous I know Blush but he has turned out to be a wonderful smiley chap who suits his name perfectly Smile

There are lots and lots between 15 and 10, one of my DC had 3 in one class.

muminthemiddle · 10/02/2011 00:32

I know quite a few older Thomas but not many under 5s.

hatwoman · 10/02/2011 00:48

I don't know any! I think it's lovely - in fact was just thinking so the other day. I've always liked Tam too.

Mumcentreplus · 10/02/2011 00:49

one in DD1s class..she's about to turn 9

Runoutofideas · 10/02/2011 11:59

There are lots. DD1 (5) has 7 out of the 45 boys in her year. dd2 (3) is at preschool with 2. It is my nephew's name and I know 2 others at toddler group. It is a lovely name though....

It's popular because it's a great name so not a reason not to choose IMO.

It's not a fad name, so I think it will always appeal to a lot of people.

"It's popular because it's a great name so not a reason not to choose"

But the fact that it is loved by many and therefore given to thousands of boys is excactly what puts some people off - they don't want their child to be one of many in a class and be known as Tom A, Tom B and Tom C or little Tom and big Tom etc.

I hated having a very common name and was always known as little XX or XX H. It also 'dates' me to the 1970s becaust it was very popular back then.

My ds is Thomas. He is now 17 and was Thomas up until about 15 but now everyone calls him Tom. We love it
