Edmund
Edward
William

Girls (no middle name yet):

Please give your honest opinions and feel free to give other suggestions but please be gentle because she's pregnant and hormonal and I'll get the blame! Wink

James or William

Polly or Tessa

Too many Ed-names where I live!

Pasiphae · 08/02/2011 14:53

Edward and Sophie are lovely.

Bernadette? Really? It's... not very pretty.

AllieW · 08/02/2011 14:55

Edmund is my favourite of the boys. Of the girls' names, I think Polly and Sophie are the nicest.

QuestionNumber · 08/02/2011 15:05

Edmund - quite nice
Edward - like
William - like
James - like

Sophie - like
Petra - dislike, the Blue Peter dog's name
Polly - put the kettle on, not keen
Tessa - lovely but would have Theresa as full name
Bernadette - dislike, sorry

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 08/02/2011 15:06

William
Polly

telsa · 08/02/2011 15:42

flower38 · 08/02/2011 15:42

Edward
Polly

Thanks everyone, I'll pass this on.

I know, Pasiphae, personally I think Bernadette is bloody awful. And what will it be shortened to? Bernie? That's even worse. But hey ho, not my child, and I suppose there are worse names. Hopefully she'll go for something else anyway!

Tessa and Edmund are lovely.

onimolap · 08/02/2011 18:27

Edmund - lovely: but would she want the indirect Narnia reference of Edmund and Peter together?
Edward - lovely
William - fine
James - lovely

Sophie - lovely (lot of them about)
Petra - nice (but to me always the Blue Peter dog)
Polly - nice (but sounds a bit nn)
Tessa - OK (to me it's a nn)
Bernadette - OK

ComeAlongPond · 08/02/2011 19:32

This is true, onimolap! Don't think she's thought of that, thanks :) Especially if she has a Polly later, that's all a bit much!

Not Bernadette or Petra. The former is unutterably frumpy imo, the latter better but a bit clunky. The other three girls names are really lovely, especially Tessa and Polly.

Like all your boys names, but Edmund or Edward are my favourites and, again imho, go best with Peter.

MelinaM · 09/02/2011 01:35

Edward and Sophie are beautiful! x

Bernadette is a really old-school French name, but not in a pretty vintage way. Let's say it's a female equivalent of Raymond, IYSWIM.
