I need all the sensible Mumsnet mummy's out there to help me with my names on the basis that I have to get important things validated these days since I noticed baby brain has been making make some strange decisions and I don't want my daughters name to be one of these!!! Please tell me what you think of the following list and be as brutal as you like... 'baby bump' may thank you someday!! Grin

Harriet
Henrietta
Juliet
Camilla
Emily

Suggestions also very welcome.... I find the name books a bit of a struggle!

Harriet - love
Henrietta - hmmm quite posh but like nn henri
Juliet - nice but quite adult?
Camilla - nice but future queen?
Emily - but dull

Sorry that probably doesn't help at all!

essenceofSES · 06/02/2011 22:52

Harriet - ok; nn hattie??
Henrietta - not so keen
Juliet - ok but prefer Juliette
Camilla - not keen on this nevermind the fact that it instantly makes me think of "Queen" Camilla
Emily - ok but not a name for an adult IMHO

Other suggestions (trying to pick what I think you might like to from your other choices)....
Emilia
Eleanor / Elina
Charlotte
Laura

Harriet - Okay.
Henrietta - Lovely and very few about, so huge + point!
Juliet - Lovely, I prefer the Juliette spelling.
Camilla - Reminds me of the very dull Parker Bowles!
Emily - Nice, but a bit plain.

x

I LOVE Emily, had it on my maybe list but settled with Sophie. :)

kreecherlivesupstairs · 07/02/2011 08:51

I don' like Henrietta, or Camilla but the others are OK. Just OK.
Julia I love, Ellen I love and Lydia I love.

Rhubarbgarden · 07/02/2011 09:45

Dislike Camilla and Emily, the others are lovely

DandyDan · 07/02/2011 10:01

Camilla is the best of your names - unusual and classic - Queen of the Volsci; bit of a warrior and fast runner.

The others are pretty but more girly and fluffy.

Lydia - also a good strong girl's name.

ThatllDoPig · 07/02/2011 10:06

I think they are all lovely names, except Camilla. Just makes me think of Prince of Wales's woman, or a camel.
Good luck!

CharlieBoo · 07/02/2011 12:03

Emily is gorgeous. The best name on your list by a country mile in my opinion. Seriously not a grown up name...I've heard it all now...

mamma2boyz · 07/02/2011 13:34

I think they are all lovely names...love Camilla (Milla for short)...and Hattie is cute for Harriet, I know a gorgeous 2yo Hattie

teobaldo · 07/02/2011 13:56

I like Harriet and Camilla ( but not if I think of Charles...)

DitaVonCheese · 07/02/2011 14:13

Love Harriet and Juliet(te), rest are fine but don't like them so much. None are horrid though :)

Hatterbox · 07/02/2011 14:44

I think Harriet is a fine, fine name indeed!

Wink
shouldnotbehere · 07/02/2011 14:58

Juliet

mathanxiety · 07/02/2011 15:41

I love Juliet and Camilla. Henrietta has a lot of zip to it too and it's unusual.

Other suggestions:
Keziah
Honora
Miranda
Helena
Agatha
Madeleine
Marit

All nice except Camilla.

I prefer the Juliet spelling myself.

JojoMags · 07/02/2011 20:22

Harriet - absolutely love
Henrietta - OK, like Hetty as a nn
Juliet - don't like. Too prissy.
Camilla - v pretty. Like Cami and Millie as nn
Emily - boring

Underachieving · 07/02/2011 20:27

Harriet- See next
Henrietta- I'm not a fan on these two, there seems to be a bit of a run on them locally and they sound a teeny bit pretentious to me.
Juliet- I really like this. Modern classic type names are so common now that picking a traditional name which has yet to come back into fashion is something of a coup.
Camilla- Only if you wont mind her being mentally associated with the Duchess of Cornwall? Depends on your royalism- or not.
Emily- A bit dull for me.

I would pick Juliet

MummyGeorgie · 07/02/2011 22:09

Thanks for all the feedback... there are quite a few points that I hadn't actually thought of at all due my mental restrictions these days!!

Hugely appreciated!

I think a couple have dropped off the list now ;)

I like Harriet, Juliet and Emily from your list.

lowra · 08/02/2011 20:43

Quite like Harriet, Juliet and Camilla are lovely. Not too keen on the others.

SilkStalkings · 09/02/2011 16:17

Like them all except Henrietta has too many associations with horsey Sloans.
