DP really keen on Lewis (shortened to Lewi) and Ted (Edward on Birth Cirtificate to give hi a choice) but I prefer Sam and Jack. Am I being boring or safe?!

Fortunately, we both agree on Emilia (Emme) for a girl!!!

Thoughts?

I prefer Louis to Lewis (but would not go for either because I know I couldn't bear the "loo" joke phase among small boys). Edward, Samuel and Jack are all lovely.

DP has close friend with a Louis pronounced Louie so don't think we can go for that. Lewis is just about different enough.

I also prefer Louis to Lewis

eeeeeeeeeeek can't have Louis sadly!

Jack is really popular. I like Sam.

I was going to say Louis much nicer/classier than Lewis too.
If you cannot have Louis then my second choice would be Edward followed by Sam/Samuel.

BelligerentGhoul · 04/02/2011 23:12

I like Edward/Teddy.

COCKadoodledooo · 04/02/2011 23:30

Love Edward/Ted, though I might be slightly biased as I have an adorable one of my own!

He's becoming known as "Eddie" at school though, which I dislike but he loves. He shall forever be my Tiny Ted though!

i know a few sams recently but really like it. My ds is jack but its very popular now. To be honest they are all nice names, but would go for lewis regardless of spelling. When pg with dd we liked aarron for a boy

In answer to your question, yes Sam and Jack are both very, very boring names.

Lewi is nice, and Ted ok, although I prefer Edwin and Edgar to the (also boring) Edward.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 05/02/2011 09:38

I like Samuel [biased emoticon].
I like Louis too though

Huffymuffy · 05/02/2011 09:48

Lewis is Lewis, Louis is "Lewi". Won't it just be a lifetime of confusion and explaining if you call him Lewis pronounced Lewi?
Love Emilia though, also Sam and Jack are nice.

tuggy · 05/02/2011 12:57

I agree about the Lewis/Lewi thing

There are 2 names

Lewis pronounced 'loo-is'
Louis pronounced 'Loo-ey'

So if you are going to use the pronunciation Lewi every day you should just name him Louis, which is pronounced that way anyway. Or else very confusing...
