Classic V Brave?

I now have two girls names in the running.

Anna Primrose Ivy

and

Isadora Beatrix Ivy 'Dora'

Which would you plump for? The timeless, classic Anna or the more interesting, but braver choice of Isadora (Dora)?

But Anna could equally become very trendy, just like Eva, Grace, Lily all have.

Lonnie · 03/02/2011 17:03

I know no Annas below 10 and 4 Isadora's .. imo Isadora is the safer choice

having said that I much prefeer Isadora to Anan that I just find terribilly plain

What? Anna is like Elizabeth. It's timeless. It can't be trendy as it's been in the top 50 for years and years.

Eva, Grace and Lily are 'of the moment'.

Anna and Elizabeth are lovely names but it would be boring if we were all called classic, timeless names.

MommyMayhem · 03/02/2011 17:28

Primrose always reminds me of Harold Shipley's wife. I like Isadora though, not sure on Dora. Anna is a bit Russian/East European. Which is fine if you are Russian/East European.

I agree. And they would lose their 'timelessness' if we all did.

Yes, exactly why I'm considering Isadora.

Both really nice names.

Anna is more classic but Isadora isn't wildly out there either and gives more options for nicknames.

I don't think you'll go wrong with either.

jellybeans · 03/02/2011 19:52

Anna Primrose Ivy far nicer.

smother · 03/02/2011 20:58

Hmmm tricky, I can see the dilemma and from your posts, it seems that you swing defensively from one to another, although it seems in your heart of hearts, I think you're swinging most to Anna.

Personally I think they are both lovely - but for me, Anna has the edge because it is so simple, classic and beautiful but not boring - and that is actually quite rare!!

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 03/02/2011 22:36

I like both options, good choices.

If I was going to use one myself I would probably lean more towards Anna, but I don't think that you could go wrong with either.

AllieW · 04/02/2011 13:34

Isadora is gorgeous! By far the best choice!

mathanxiety · 04/02/2011 15:33

How about Theodora? Theodosia? Annaliese? Annabel? Annika? Aniela? Ã…ine (Irish, pr. AWN-ya) Or just Dora?

Anna and Isadora are both lovely.

onimolap · 04/02/2011 16:53

Isadora always makes me think Duncan.

Both Anna and Isadora are lovely names.

TheCrunchyNutter · 04/02/2011 22:52

I prefer Isadora although I do really like Anna.

My favourite of the names suggested here is Dorothea though - could be Dora, Dot or Thea.

DitaVonCheese · 04/02/2011 23:16

I am a fan of Isadora - worried about the decapitation connection though. Otherwise I think it's lovely and am surprised that it's not as popular as Isabella etc. However, I also like Anna, so am no use to anyone Blush

BelligerentGhoul · 04/02/2011 23:19

Isadora is lovely. Prefer Beatrice to Beatrix. Don't like Dora.

How about Isolde?

ValiumSandwichTime · 05/02/2011 22:17

Isadora is awful. I like Isolde too. And Iseult? softer thand Isadora. Iseult seems fashionable in ireland recently.

Anna Beatrix or Beatrix Anna would be a beautiful mix of classic and quirky.

Nightstar · 05/02/2011 22:20

Anna really is boring!!

Dora

PS. I LOVE your middle names, both work really well

Nightstar · 05/02/2011 22:21

Ooh Dorothea!

BelligerentGhoul · 05/02/2011 22:29

I like Ishbel too - and less likely to get Izzy from it.
