I'm expecting DC3 in August. I think I have my boy's name: Matthew James, but what do you think of Monica Rose for a girl?

I like it, its a classic type name. And goes well with the middle name Rose.

And I think 'Friends' is old enough for it not to influence peoples opinion of the name.

PlanetLizard · 31/01/2011 10:56

I like it :)

Thanks. That's what I was worried about - it is a family name, but obviously there are a whole generation who will only associate it with Friends Grin

There's also the Monica Lewinski association for people of our generation, but I suppose the Lewinski episode won't really be on the radar for our children's generation.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 31/01/2011 11:11

I don't like it, but I associate it with a busybody I know.

Nice underused name. Makes a refreshing change from all the overused 'cutey' type names these days (Lily, Tilly, Milly, Daisy etc). Lovely!

Works well in most languages too!

AllieW · 31/01/2011 13:38

Not keen. I do think of Friends but also of the word moniker so to me it sounds like you're calling her Name, IYSWIM. Can understand others liking it though.

Hedwig3 · 31/01/2011 13:44

My problem with it is the word 'moniker' too.

I do still kind of like it though Confused

5DollarShake · 31/01/2011 13:46

Nice name. She will likely be the only one in her class as well! :)

evamummy · 31/01/2011 16:03

Lovely underused name!

moniker Confused

Lovely. Our child-minder was Monika and my son used to called her Moni, which is cute.

MrsDeidreIppy · 31/01/2011 16:35

Associate it with Friends which isn't a bad thing and a bit with Monica Lewinski which isn't great but future generations won't have this association. I think its a nice name in its own right and is also not that different from Jessica which is a popular name.

ValiumSandwichTime · 31/01/2011 18:01

I prefer Veronica for some reason.

MonicaFree · 31/01/2011 18:03

Monica. Love it.

Love
