Patricia Price = Fisher Price??

Hi Smile

Patricia runs down through my mother's side of the family as a middle name, and I'd love to pass it on if I have a little girl, but DH's surname is Price.
Does anyone else's brain shout Fisher Price when they try and say Patricia Price?? Or am I just thinking too hard about it??

And also, if its just a middle name do you think I can get away with it anyway, as its not often someone says your full name aloud??

Thanks Smile

Patricia as a first name? Don't like it, I'm afraid, and not because of Fisher Price (which seems an unlikely link to make). If just as a middle name then you're not going to use it at all, then it's fine.

Patricia Price is a bit of a tonguetwister. Don't think I would have thought of Fisher Price immediately though. Yes I think it would work well as a middle name :)

I don't like it much, but as a middle name it's fine.

On its own it does sound like Fisher Price, but with another name before it I'm not sure I'd make the connection, and even if I did, it's not exactly Anne Summers. The potential for teasing is not massive. 'like the toy company?' 'yeah'.

not to sure if i would have instantly made the link unless you said, i dont like the name though, but you could get away with it as a middle name! Smile

I would definately use it as a middle name. It's lovely to continue the tradition, and I don't think anyone would made the fisherprice connection with a middle name.

sophiesmummie · 31/01/2011 11:32

No Fisher Price connections at all. I think Patricia is a lovely underused name that you don't hear much these days. It is only a matter of time before it becomes fashionable again. And she won't have to share her name with lots of others in school Smile.

Yes sorry didn't make that too clear - it would only be a middle name as DH hates it Grin but he wants to call a kid Dennis after his dad and I hate that so at least we've got one each relegated to the middle name position Wink

Clearly I was overthinking the idea of it sounding like Fisher Price - will relax again now Smile and yes I'd agree that once another names in front you probably wouldn't even notice Smile

Thank you!!

I went to school with a Patricia Price. Never even thought of the Fisher Price connection and never thought the name was weird or anything.

CuppaTeaJanice · 31/01/2011 13:19

Patricia as a middle name is fine.

Names you should avoid are Norman, Dilys and Katie!

Janoschi · 31/01/2011 18:48

I LOVE Patricia Price. Memorable. Patty Price is so cute. And I LOVE Patricia - really considering it for our DD. Please don't relegate it to 2nd name and stick some 'trendy' Ruby, Imogen or Ella on the front. Would be such a shame!

Firawla · 31/01/2011 18:52

as a middle name would be fine

I actually know an adult Patricia Price (married into the name though) and it never occurred to me that it sounds like Fisher Price. Not a problem IMO.
