DP and I have agreed on a boys name. Girls names we can't agree on. Please tell me what you think of my list:

Jessica
Juliet
Imogen
Audrey
Adriana
Amelie (DP's fav girls name)
Esme
Emelie/Emelie
Iris
Skye
Darcie
Rosie
Lucie
Elise
Alice

Our DS is called Alfie. Not short for anything. At the moment I'm swaying towards Lucie, Iris (DP doesnt like) and Alice which I love but again DP not so keen.

onimolap · 29/01/2011 08:54

Jessica - no
Juliet - OK
Imogen - lovely
Audrey - no (Coronation Street)
Adriana - OK
Amelie - OK-ish
Esme OK
Emelie/Emelie - no - Emilia is nice though
Iris - OK
Skye - no
Darcie - OK
Rosie - lovely as a nn
Lucie - lovely
Elise - OK
Alice - OK

medoitmama · 29/01/2011 08:54

I love Iris. Beautiful. Rosie's really cute, goes well with Alfie, although, it's great for a LO but a bit too cute for a grown up IMO. How about Rose, then you can always call her Rosie??

Lucie, very classic. Emelie - shew'll just be explaining spelling forever!

I used to love Skye (my grandfather was from the Isle of Skye) but then I got Skye Plus. Put me off a bit!

PracticallyImperfectInEveryWay · 29/01/2011 09:12

i like Lucie the best, and also like Rosa nn Rosie

JiltedJohnsJulie · 29/01/2011 11:02

Jessica - ok
Juliet - love
Imogen - ok
Audrey - love, makes me think of Coronation St too but that's not a bad thing Grin also think Hepburn and Tautou.
Adriana - ok
Amelie (DP's fav girls name) - ok.
Esme - not keen
Emelie/Emelie - prefer Amelie.
Iris - makes me think of eyes.
Skye - don't like.
Darcie - not keen.
Rosie - ok as a nn but prefer Rose
Lucie - ok but prefer Lucy
Elise - not keen
Alice - love, simple and classic.

Although Alice doesn't really go with Alfie and if your DP isn't keen on Alice or Iris you probably won't be having those names anyway.

SameOldJollster · 29/01/2011 11:56

With Alfie, I think Iris or Alice go best.

Think another ie ending sounds a little bit twee.

And some of the more serious names don't sound quite right with Alfie (Imogen/Juliet?Audrey).

FWIW much prefer Lucy/Darcy/Rosy spellings.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 29/01/2011 12:20

Have to disagree with you on that one Same, I don't think "Alfie and Alice" go well at all. They sort of run into one another.

theagedparent · 29/01/2011 12:25

I like Audrey the best

CharlieBoo · 29/01/2011 14:18

Agree much prefer Lucy, Darcy, Rosy spellings...they look so much nicer (I am a Lucy btw).

Love Esme, Rosy, Imogen and Alice..

growing3rdbump · 29/01/2011 18:48

Alfie and Esme would got lovely together. I want Esme for my DC3, but DH wont have it Sad. I think we've agreed on Ivy though! I do like Alice, but don't think it goes well with Alfie either.

flower38 · 29/01/2011 19:52

Aubree/Aubrey i think sounds nice with Alfie

blushingm · 29/01/2011 20:16

years not tears sorry

mathanxiety · 29/01/2011 23:09

I love Juliet, Audrey, Lucie, Alice and Elise from your list.

I dislike Imogen, Skye, Jessica and Darcie.

Adriana, Amelie, Esme, Emelie/Emelie, Iris and Rosie are all a bit ho-hum and predictable with Alfie as the older brother. Except Adriana, which doesn't go with Alfie at all.

Chocolocolate · 29/01/2011 23:52

I think Esme or Lucie go best with Alfie.

fairybubbles · 30/01/2011 13:38

Thanks all so much for all the feedback, every time I look at my list I have a different favourite. It is just as well I have a few more weeks to decide!

Today I really like Rosie, Audrey and Esme but isnt there a whole big thing about the spelling/pronounciation of Emse? I think I saw a thread about that.

In reality DP prob won't ever agree to Alice or Iris but i will keep them on my list for now. His favourite remains Amelie but although I like it and it's a nice name I'm not sure if I like it when it's said out loud.

Jessica - not keen at all
Juliet - love
Imogen - not a big fan
Audrey - don't like
Adriana - prefer Adrienne
Amelie (DP's fav girls name) - not bad
Esme - hate
Emelie/Emelie - prefer Emmeline
Iris - hate
Skye - quite nice,
Darcie - quite nice
Rosie - like, kind of timeless, might be tempted for Rosamund on the b/c
Lucie - not keen on the name or spelling
Elise - not keen
Alice - very nice

however, go for the one you guys like most of all would be my advice, regardless of our opinions!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 31/01/2011 18:26

I only know one Esme but I've seen others post that they think it is very popular. Still like it though.

Eglu · 31/01/2011 18:29

Amelie - I love this
