Elena, choice of middle name

I love the name Elena (prounouncing as Elena, not elayna)

I've been going through names in my head to use as a middle name. We have a single syllable surname.

I was thinking of Elena Mary, but would love to hear other suggestions, as I'm not totally sure.

Pronounced that way I would go with Eleanor to avoid confusion.

Ellen is lovely.

I would stick to Elena (just tell people it';s like Helena without the "E"!) It's a beautiful name and much under-used.

Would go with most other Italian/Spanish names like Lucia, Francesca, Antonia, Rafaella, Claudia, etc

Or something very classic like May, Frances, Katherine, Kate, Grace, Rose, Iris, Miriam, Beatrice

We would have put Elisabeth or Rose after it had we had another DD!

jenn would go nice with elena or you can use jennifer to if you wanna bit more classy

Thanks. We do have Spanish connections hence the spelling.

The other side of the family is Irish, so Mary is a family name, but not sure how more obvious Irish names would go with Elena.

I like Elena Beatrice, although I know my husband would say no straight away unfortunately.

I don't understand why there would be any confusion??? Eleanor is pronounced differently to Elena so how would that spelling help?????

I like Sofia too, but I thought I might be going too far down the Spanish route. I guess having Mary does balance things out, although I do live outside the UK at the mo.

Luckily no Acanthus! It wouldn't cross most people's minds I wouldn't have thought?! Well not here anyway.

I think people will pronounce it as Elena (Elayna).
You might want to put an extra 'l' in it to get it pronounced 'Ellena'
