Aladdin

I have just had a baby and one of the babies in the ward with me was called Aladdin. Hideous! Another was called Jayzee - needless to say both mothers were teenagers trying to go for a different name.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

DD was asked by the mother of an Ala-ha-din if they could get married when she was older.
Twas on the post natal ward. I declined.
OP, you are being horribly judgey and I note you haven't come back and said what your baby is called.

mopsyflopsy · 25/01/2011 12:30

OP, yes in the interest of fairness you ought to share your baby's name with us, so that we can 'judge' it!

pinkylulu · 25/01/2011 12:32

I would understand if the mother was Arabic but they were not. The lads middle name was Disney.

What an ignorant OP - not only critising someone elses' choice (without being asked) but also implying that teenage mums make silly choices.

OP, what is your child's name?

pinkylulu · 25/01/2011 12:44

Princess Jasmine.

BunnyWunny · 25/01/2011 12:49

I'm calling my next one Cinderella...

pinkmagic1 · 25/01/2011 12:55

I have actually come across a Cinderella, BunnyWunny!
Like others have said Aladin is actually a proper name, but pronounced more like Ala-a-din rather than Aladin. Do you know what nationality the babies father was? People more than likely think my DS has rather a strange name but we are a racially mixed family.

kreecherlivesupstairs · 25/01/2011 12:55

Was he fuck called Disney. 0/10 for originality.

Firawla · 25/01/2011 13:33

I dont believe you about the middle name Disney! whatever, just trying to excuse your self from your earlier ignorant comment I think.
As others have said Aladdin is a decent and very old name, its not like something made up! Your attitude is hideous more than the name Aladdin!
I prefer the spelling Alauddin but either way I do like it

rachel234 · 25/01/2011 13:41

Neither do I actually - I think you made up Disney to make your (ignorant) point sound more plausible.

Why do you refuse to tell us your child's name, OP?

Teenage mother comment is a bit catty, don't you think? Was 18 when DS was born, and he has a very normal tradiotional (Welsh) name.

SixtyFootDoll · 25/01/2011 14:00

BAcktracking now OP>

Some people might think it odd naming a child after a car that went to Monte Caarlo?

cocoachannel · 25/01/2011 16:39

Wow- imagine that? Naming your child after a Disney character...!

Pot, kettle doesn't even cover it OP!! I assume you know they made the films about everyone's favourite VW Beetle?

fruitshootsandheaves · 25/01/2011 16:45

I think Potatohead Pixar has a certain ring to it
