At the mo our favourite name for a girl is Juliet/Juliette. I love it as it's not too popular/ too cool/ too unique and so pretty!

Just wondered what your favourite spelling was and also what you thought of the name?

Juliet is a lovley name, but not as nice as Julia.

twinmumplus1inthetum - Sophie and William are gorgeous names as well. Did you like both names equally? I always wonder that with twins! Sophia is on our list for our next one if it is a DD.

reddaisy - my dh and I named one each! We knew we were having girls (I felt I had had enough surprises with the shock of finding out we were having 2)
We knew we didn't want the names to sound similar as the girls are identical and so similar names would be even more confusing. What we found hard to agree on before they were born was how we should decide which twin got which name....but as I was being sliced open one of the obstetricians asked if we had names for the babies and we happened to say Sophie and Juliet in that order, he pulled one out and said "well here's Sophie" and then pulled the other out a minute later and said "here's Juliet" so that solved the problem!
My husband decided on the middle names as I felt too out of it to make decisions and they are Juliet Amelia and Sophie Beatrix.

sleepywombat - I agree! Juliette has more of an emphasis at the end (if that makes sense)

Your children have gorgoues names! I love Sophie but we can't have it as DH's best friend's DD is Sophie!
twinmumplus1inthetum Can I ask what William's middle name is?
We are having problems with boys names!

Thanks fragglerocks. He is William Robert.

twinmumplus1 - that is a lovely story of how your children were named and their names are very different which is nice as well as twins are usually keen to have their own identities. Are they identical?

AllieW · 27/01/2011 18:47

Juliette is my preference.

twinmumplus1inthetum · 27/01/2011 19:05

reddaisy - yes they are identical and looked very similar until recently when there was an incident with the scissors and one gave herself a short back and sides and the other a space helmet haircut so now the difference is clear!

Aagh! Why didn't I realise that Juliet could be given the nickname Jet? Fabulous name.

Love the name Juliet, but loathed the idea of it being shortened to Julie, so abandoned the idea.

ghosteditor · 27/01/2011 19:22

Love it! I prefer 'Juliet' as a spelling, but adore Jet and Jules as nn.

And the Jules I know is awesome

reddaisy · 27/01/2011 21:21

Twinmum - that was kind of them to help you tell the apart. I once got chewing gum stuck all in my hair when I was young, my hair had to be butchered to sort out the mess. Ooops.

PlymouthSound - I only found out myself recently about Jet, it is so cool. I also hate the thought of Julie.

EsioTrot · 27/01/2011 21:24

Juliet is lovely :)
