My husband thinks it would be a really good idea to call DS2, a shortened version of our surname. He saw it once on a Harry Enfield programme and ever since he's thought of it as a brillant boy's name.
What do you think?
Is there any circumstance that Billy Williams might be acceptable or owen Owens Etc?
I think this is mad personally.

Dave Davies from The Kinks. Didn't do him any harm.

My cousin has the same first name and surname.

I also know a girl called Morgan Morgan (mother's maiden name was Morgan, decided to call baby Morgan Father'ssurname, parents split up and children took on mother's maiden name)

But Major Major Major Major from Catch-22 is a complete screw-up. He never fitted in because of the humiliation of his name. You have been warned! Grin

It really depends what the name is...

I think 'Robert Robertson' would be silly, but I knew a 'Rory McRory' & LOVED LOVED LOVED his name!

Pootle78 · 19/01/2011 21:06

I know of a Robbie McRobbie through work!

Always thought it was strange, obviously first name was Robert and he shortened it, but whatever floats your boat!

Chumpalina · 19/01/2011 21:38

Very very common occurance in Wales, my absolute fave nickname was a chap in our village David Davies aka 'Dai twice'. Go for it!

ChippingInSmellyCheeseFreak · 19/01/2011 21:42

I think it's awful and shows a complete lack of imagination. I see these on the credits and wonder 'What were they thinking??'

fiftyfifty · 20/01/2011 14:11

DD has a boy named Jack Jackson in her reception class. Even she thinks it's a bit odd.
