We are really struggling to think of a boys name! What do you think to Finn or Millen?

And Isaac is a very good name :)

Agree that Finn is too popular these days so would avoid that. Millen is quite nice, a little different but easy to pronounce and spell.

cece · 26/01/2011 12:39

I think you should wait for your DH to come up with some suggestions...

But don't expect it to be till after the baby is born! LOL My DH was the same. In the end we agreed a name for DS2. But when he came out it didn't suit him. Took us days to come up with an alternative. Well I did and DH agreed with me after about 24 hours of thinking about it. It was actually a name he had said no to when I first gave him a list of suggestions. LOL. I am still not sure whether he realises that or not!

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 27/01/2011 22:22

ok - having wracked my brains, I have also come up with.....wait for it......

Finnigan (Finn)
Fenn - mentioned earlier but now on the list!

any thoughts anyone??

There was an old man called Micheal Finnigan,
He grew whiskars on his chinigan...

Sorry!

evamummy · 28/01/2011 12:12

But the problem with Finnigan is that it will end up as Finn...

Fenn - not sure. I know a girl called Fennella who gets called Fenn.

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 28/01/2011 13:39

it's great song isn't it Grin

What about Finnian?

DH been charged with coming up with more names but he's not rising to the occasion - mainly because he wants Finn and I'm trying to make that work for me.

Oh dear, please help!

OP posts:
Edmundo · 31/01/2011 21:32

Finn is nicer. Finnian is an odd sound.

Phineas
Finlay
Finbar
Finlo
Fintan

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 31/01/2011 21:54

well does Finn sound like a full name or a nickname to you?

OP posts:
Edmundo · 31/01/2011 21:58

It's a full name in my opinion.

evamummy · 31/01/2011 22:01

I would assume that Finn is a nickname for one of the many Fin/Phin related names.

Finn is very, very popular and I'd worry that it will soon sound dated as it falls out of favour again.

Milan is gorgeous, reminds me of Milan Kundera.

3nearly4 · 31/01/2011 22:06

I love Finn!

I have one. Well, he is Finlay but is mostly called Fin. Great name and I can't seeing it 'falling out of favour' for years and years. :)

RememberToPlaywiththeKids · 31/01/2011 22:25

ok so it does seem to be a mixed bag on nice name / too popular / full name or mixed name.

I really don't know what to do - DH loves it and i LIKE it but am more worried about it being a name for the moment and a bit 'modern' and temporary. I wish we could find a name that we both love!

Is 'like' enough??

OP posts:
3nearly4 · 31/01/2011 22:32

Are there any names you love??

Vicky2011 · 31/01/2011 22:58

could you choose his middle name? So that effectively you and your DH do not have to love both names, just love one of them and like the other. This may be the best compromise if you have very different taste in names.

The middle name is going to be the same as DS1s and DHs middle names - a family tradition, so that's that taken care of.

All the ones I love, DH has vetoed, so we're back to the drawing board.

I must confess - if everyone or the majority came back with 'Finn is a great name' then I'd feel much happier about it but all the negatives are mirroring my concerns.

I should never have asked what people thought - fateful mistake perhaps!!!!

I adore the name Finn. I prefer Finn to all the longer versions. It's a very srong name and will suit all ages.

Not liking Millen.

hulabula · 01/02/2011 13:30

Every other boy round here is called a variant of Finn it seems (Finlay, Finley, Finnian, Finnigan etc.), so seems very popular at the moment.

Personally I prefer some of your other choices (Eli, Abel, Milan) which are more timeless.

hulabula · 01/02/2011 13:31

What are your other children called - that may help us come up with some other suggestions.
