Sapphire and .....!!!!!

I need help and fast! I am due a week today, I am pregnant with fraternal twins, two girls :)
But here is where my problems begin.
I have always always loved the name Sapphire, I just love everything about and there is nothing anyone can say to put me off. My imaginary DD was always going to be Sapphire but now I'm having 2 !!!
I just can't find another girls name I like equally and don't want to do with second best as whichever child is named Sapphire seems favouritism. I have considered discounting Sapphire all together but I can't bring myself to do it.
I have two DS's called Sol and Flint... if that helps.

Please help me time is running out!!

You could have Stella instead of Estella.

One set of nametapes...Grin

But it does sound a bit like a mispronunciation of Steel, I suppose.

tebbles · 06/01/2011 17:51

I pronounce Lei-lani (Leh-lain-ee).

How about Nova, Luna, Geneva, Anais, Aurelia??

Rhubarbgarden · 06/01/2011 18:03

Loving Sapphire and Storm.

Bluebell is very appealing too.

chipmonkey · 06/01/2011 18:03

Hermione?

LittleYellowTeapot · 06/01/2011 18:52

I love the celestial names with Sapphire - they go really well.

I also quite like the idea of using Sapphire as a middle name for both Smile

Bumperlicious · 06/01/2011 19:05

I love baby name thread like this where the op has a more unconventional taste. I reckon we are all just adding names that we'd love to have used ourselves but either not brave enough or vetoed by DPs!

AnnOnimous · 06/01/2011 20:17

I think Aurora goes very well with Sapphire, and has lovely, star like qualities, so is special in its own right.

chatee · 06/01/2011 20:19

Amethyst

ShoppingDays · 06/01/2011 20:32

I wouldn't use the same middle name for both in case they both decide to use it!

I know a Safire (yes it is spelt this way) who's sister is Scarlet.
They get called Saffy and Scarly.
Like your idea of using it as a middle name for both - as you love it so much it would be hard to use for one twin.

Soli81 · 07/01/2011 10:43

Had a talk with DH last night and we have compiled a shortlist. Would like to see opinions! Thanks everyone for all the great suggestions I love so many of these names I'm spoilt for choice really!

Sapphire and Seraphine
Sapphire and Estella
Sapphire and Aurora
Sapphire and Bluebell

For middle names I was thinking of giving them both a flower name.

Oh I was coming on to say Raphaella.

I quite like the Sapphire and Aurora combination - Saffy and Rorie.

DreamTeamGirl · 07/01/2011 10:46

I like Sapphire & Scarlet

mylifewithstrangers · 07/01/2011 10:48

Definately Aurora from your shortlist

mamaloco · 07/01/2011 10:57

Shapphire and Kari (gust of wind)?

Hedwig3 · 07/01/2011 11:28

From your latest list I choose

Sapphire and Bluebell

but only name them when you have determined which is feisty - Sapphire, and calm - Bluebell! Grin

Bumperlicious · 07/01/2011 12:16

Sapphire and Seraphine - too much I think
Sapphire and Estella - like but not my face
Sapphire and Aurora - really like
Sapphire and Bluebell - love this if you can get away with it (we couldn't) but you can't give Bluebell a flower middle name

Florrie2 · 07/01/2011 13:29

Estella or Aurora goes best I think.
The celestial nature of the names sets Sapphire out the best, bringing out the sparkliness and blueness of the name iykwim!

I think Bluebell cheapens it tbh. It's too twee of a name, to go with a strong name like Sapphire.

Soli81 · 07/01/2011 15:48

Quite mixed opinions!
I think I'm leaning towards Estella purely because of a rather odd reason which is my great-grandmothers ring (which I wear everyday) is a small blue star sapphire.
With Estella meaning star and obviously Sapphire... I know its mad!

I also do really like Bluebell.

I like Aurora but DH says she will be called rorie and he thinks this is to much of a boys name. But he likes Bluebell alot and also quite likes Estella so...

For middle names I'm a bit stuck!

Sapphire and Seraphine - love it. I like the way there is some alliteration between the names without being too matchy.

Sapphire and Estella - like a lot and I like the star connection of your ring.

Sapphire and Aurora - not my favourite but no real objections

Sapphire and Bluebell - I can see where you're coming from but Bluebell is not quite as punchy as Sapphire imo. Like Hedwig says one is more feisty but you're not going to know what suits when newborns.

chipmonkey · 07/01/2011 17:36

Bluebell is not ethereal enough to go with Sapphire.
Of your list, I like Seraphine best.

mathanxiety · 07/01/2011 19:35

I love Sapphire and Estella (or Estelle or Seren, which is Welsh for star), especially with your last post and the detail about your great grandmother's ring.

Rhubarbgarden · 07/01/2011 19:46

I think Bluebell goes really well. Love Aurora too.
