How popular is Imogen?

Having a late pregnancy wobble I think. Husband and I like more unusual (but not wildly outlandish) names and he's had his heart set on Imogen for a number of years. However, I'm concerned that it's growing in popularity and I don't want our daughter to be one of several in her class.

Do other people think it's getting popular, and how many little Imogens do you know (would be helpful to know whereabouts you are in the country too)?

I liked it as a name - it was on my short list but dh wouldn't have it because of that really annoying one on BB. We dont even watch it but she was everywhere for a while -I'm thinking mainly because of her big boobies lol

She appeared on celeb Hmm coach trip too

mathanxiety · 06/01/2011 17:41

I can't understand the popularity myself.

tebbles · 06/01/2011 17:43

I dont think it is too popular. It is well known though. I know of a baby, a handful aged 3-12 and one in her 30s.

If you like it use it.

LittleYellowTeapot · 06/01/2011 18:57

I think it's a beautiful name. I only know 3. One is now 13, one is 3 and one is 3 months.

LilyBolero · 06/01/2011 19:01

I know 2.

Deciduousblonde · 07/01/2011 10:03

I only know one, and she is 17. A lot of the time she is known as Gen :)

I thought of this name myself, but DH didn't like it.

Thanks for the comments everyone. It has set my mind at rest a bit. We're 'Ooop North' and it isn't a name that seems popular, but that could be because I don't yet know that many under fives!

The other is 10 months and lives in Kent.

I have a friend of a friend with one in Berks, she's 8 and is known as Mogs.

herhonesty · 07/01/2011 20:48

its a lovely name but more popular than you think.I know erm sorry 5, all under 5.

dont stop using it but if you use it and think you are being original then you might want to think again.

onimolap · 07/01/2011 20:58

There's one in DD's (yr2) class, and at least two others in the school (south London), also one (age 3ish) near my DM (Midlands), plus an Imogen-Skye.

tammytoby · 07/01/2011 22:51

I know a couple here in Surrey aged 6 and 8. Why don't you have a look at the National Statistics, I think they even break names down geographically.

KirstyAllsoap · 08/01/2011 19:17

I have a toddler and haven't come across any Imogens (am also up north)

JessieEssex · 09/01/2011 00:09
