It is a nice reason to consider it but a bloody awful name! The first thought it the murderous twins. Not good.

evamummy · 04/01/2011 22:01

Murderous twins..Confused...

Poppy1969 · 04/01/2011 22:06

I think it must be a popular name as I had a baby 6 weeks ago and there were two Reggies on the ward!

Spidermama · 04/01/2011 22:36

Reggie and Ronnie will be ancient history for this baby's generation.

Nightstar · 05/01/2011 00:32

What on earth is wrong with Reggie? I think its a great name!

Of course a lot of us think of the Krays, infact i had two cats called Ronnie and Reggie when i was little, but do you really think this new generation are going to make that association?

Also if it's a family name then that makes it doubly nice.

Angie - I really hope you use it. Its got a really nice ring to it x

Nightstar · 05/01/2011 00:34

Ooh Reggie Perrin - just remembered another famous Reggie - do we get extra points for bringing up other people with the name? NO we dont - it shouldnt matter.

Go for it

gerontius · 05/01/2011 00:43

Hate it.

evamummy · 05/01/2011 09:48

"PLEASE name him Reginald if you must - then call him Reggie. it's horrid, in my opinion, but if you're set on it, then he deserves the proper name on his birth certificate."

What about the thousands of little Archies and Alfies - are they all Archibalds and Alreds too?

evamummy · 05/01/2011 09:48

sorry, Alfreds.

ValiumTinselton · 05/01/2011 10:17

I like Richie, and Robbie, Vinnie, Howie, Frankie

So I kind of like the vibe of Reggie but not the name itself.

isore · 05/01/2011 10:23

Lololol at Stripeybumpsmums 'wedgie' comment!

mathanxiety · 05/01/2011 14:47

I think it's going to become more popular.

I don't think other children will ever mention the Kray twins and hopefully adults will behave themselves.

I think it's a nice solid name and the family association is lovely. Will he be Reginald on the birth cert?

NewYearNewPants · 05/01/2011 17:38

Really like it. Know two adult Reggies who are both gorgeous, cool young men (not Kray-like at all). Go for it.

maniacbug · 06/01/2011 10:22

I have a 14-month-old Reggie (officially Reginald, after both my grandads - I don't actually like the full name much but thought we'd give him the option for the future) and I think the name really suits him. Had a couple of Hmm reactions to it in RL (possibly also because we name-changed at 3 months) but frankly that has never bothered me in the slightest! Names are such a subjective and emotive issue - pick any name and there will be at least one person who doesn't like it, but that's their business. It's your baby, your choice!
(And FWIW we had at least an equal number of positive comments too. After the initial reaction, if there is one, people just focus on the child, not the name anyway.)
GOOD LUCK with bringing another cheeky little Reg into the world!

Tipples · 06/02/2011 20:34

I think its fab & if we have a boy we are going to call him Reggie (due nxt month). I have found people love or hate it but I would rather that than a coomon name or one that no-one has an opinion on!

Just need a middle name :)

VeggieReggie · 06/02/2011 20:37

I think Reggie is great Grin
And it's becoming very trendy. Judging by the baby I know called Reggie.

euracantha · 07/02/2011 18:30

I quite like it ,I prefer it to some of the older names going the rounds at the moment.I didn`t think of the Krays ,I thought of Reggie perrin. You can compare many names to murderers if so inclined , but people would be being insensitive to your feelings to refer to the Krays when he is born.Best wishes for Reggies BIRTHDAY.

KAEKAE · 28/02/2011 01:10

Chav. Krays. No!

montylady · 28/02/2011 17:43

I think it is a lovely name and I am sure your DS will feel proud to me named after someone so important to his daddy. I love names that have got a reason behind them and really don't see Reggie as a name too way out there that would cause your Ds any problems in the future. If you have even a slight doubt put a more popular name as his middle name. Go for it if you love it angie85

birdofthenorth · 28/02/2011 18:37

Isn't almost all this baby name chat a (very fun , enjoyable) waste of time?! I quite like Reggie esp because of your family link. Nobody but you gets to decide which old school names are fit for a comeback!

agora1 · 28/02/2011 20:08

I like it - go for it Smile
