Luca (my favourite), Enzo, Lorenzo, Roberto, Antonio and Marco work really well in both languages.
I think anything that looks like it could be a girl's name in english (nicola, andrea etc) are a big no no.
I would also avoid anything that has a different pronunciation of key letters. For example, I love Luciano but have heard several people pronouce it 'Loo-see-ah-no' which is dire!
Ok, the recently born Italian boys I know include Massimo, Alessandro, Gianluca, Sebastiano, Piero, Mario, Nino, Dino, Franco, Francesco, Bernardo, Bruno, Rosario, Manlio, Samuele, Oscar and Raffaello.
I do love Giuseppe but worry that he would constantly have to spell it out if he wasn't living in Italy. If you have an Italian surname already then it might be easier to have a simpler first name.
