Have a boy's name picked - but need help on summery name suggestions for little girl!

A boy's name has been chosen since well before we were a couple (it came up in conversation when we were just friends) and both happened to mention we loved it - so it is a no-brainer if we have a little boy he will be Logan James.

But we are really stuck on girls names - originally it was Isabel Alexis - but we've agreed to think of different names...

Summer is out since DH has a cousin of that name.

I love names like India and Skye but DH wants something not so 70s flower child - although he has said that they might work as a middle name & that I am obviously born of the wrong era!

So please, any summery suggestions I can add to my list?

Do you like flower names? They are quite summery....

I also think James would be lovely as a first name, its so classic and will not date, whereas I think Logan will ... badly.

Rose was my Nana's name but every time I say it out loud I think of her - a typical Jewish octagenarian who liked her stage rouge... so maybe not... but other flower names might work.

Forgot to say Isabel is lovely, but when you add up all the spellings it is probably one of the most popular girls names. Plus she will have to spell it out for the rest of her life.

OOoh I love India, would have had it for my DD's but it's my goddaughter's name.

How about:
Delphi
Posy
Augusta
Willow
Phania
Hester
Violet
Camelia
Flora

I also prefer James over Logan. :)

I really like Logan.

ShowOfHands · 29/12/2010 12:26

I know Logan is a done deal, I do. You both love it, it's the only thing that matters. But are you absolutely aware of the general reaction to it? It will date. It's one of the current American surname names that are so popular (Brandon, Tyler, Carter etc). And there's bugger all getting away from it and I don't ever know how to say it, but it's indicative of a certain socioeconomic status round these here parts. I repeat though that it matters not a jot if you love it. James is lovely though.

There are some great summery girls' names on here.

I know somebody who has just had a Merryn which is beautiful. I like Meredith too (Merry for short). Not summery but fits that pretty criteria well.
