What do you think of Caspar?

What do you think of Caspar as a boy's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

Since he was one of the three kings I thought it was pretty seasonal...and slightly less full on than Gabriel or Jesus

I absolutely love it. It's one of my favourite names.

Love it too but have had the friendly ghost comment from virtually everyone I've mentioned it to!!

In German a Kasper is a (well known) punch & judy puppet and 'kaspern' means to be silly. Not a good association imo.

Noel is seasonal.

I like it - I have considered it (being seasonal and expecting DC any time) - and slightly easier to live with Balthazar (wasn't he another wiseman? What was the third called?). Unfortunately, I know many, many dogs named Caspar... But then, people I know have a habit of giving dogs people's names, so it's going to happen.

Melchior is the other one.

I love Caspar. Great name.

I love it. I don't think of the friendly ghost (and surely no-one under 20 will either), I think of a sweet little boy we know called Caspar.

I love it and think it a lovely name for a little boy born at this time of year. I am not sure why, but really like the spelling Kasper .

Its a ghost. How about Cassius instead.
