I'm due end of January and I am having a girl. I really love the name Greta as it is quite unusual, but also I think on the rise. I was just wondering what the general consensus was?

I have a Greta. It's cute on a toddler and grown up enough for when she's older. We really like the name - remember Greta Garbo?

German friend raised her eyebrows though, I think it's considered old fashioned over there.

Ganda- I am welsh too so would pronounce it Gr-eh-ta also.

It doesn't sound harsh at all to me, maybe by pronouncing it the other way does?

I think it goes nicely on a baby, toddler, teen and grown-up. It's sort of timeless so if I can convince DP just a little bit more then that is what she will be named. Thanks everyone!

I loved Greta. It was my top name for most of my pregnancy with my dd. Dh really disliked it and so I had to leave it.
I love it.

I think it's lovely.

I know lots of Greta's - yes, really! It's really popular name around where I live, and is pronounced Greeta. Go for it.
