I can't decide if i love it or not.

I think it's Irish, which is nice, and pronounced Nile rather than Neil, which would be the English version, which i'm not fond of.

Thoughts?

I'm really sorry for that comment, I should clarify that I know two Nialls who fit that description!

TooImmature2BMum · 10/02/2011 15:17

My uncle! Pronounced Neil, not Nile, though.

Love it. Know quite a few young children here (N Ireland)with the name so it's obviously increasing in popularity. I think it's a very solid man's name (all the grown up me I know with that name are quite middle class and successful for some reason!)

Only joking,Isnt it funny how you can never like a name if someone your not keen on has that name.

Anyway dont think ds will end up ugly or unmarried, but cant take any credit as he looks nothing like me!

I've probably already posted to this thread, btu I think of Niall Quinn (Man City hero of my youth) & I love it.

Frasier's brother was Nyles - not sure is I spelt it right but it has an S on the end. I remember a Niall from school and ds has a friend called Nyles who is Irish.

My son is named Niall, he is 6, he likes his name and we continue to love it. I was at a conference and a strong, handsome, Irish man gave a fantastic speech about brain injuries and i remember thinking, if I had a son that is what I shall call him. I also have irish parents, so I probably found some comfort in it. It is also a very strong name I feel. Love it!!

Quinn the footballer. Nice name. It sounds like you'll be safe from people calling him Neil if you stay out of Scotland.
