Do you think kids names have to 'go together'

I'm expecting a girl in feb, all ready have a girl and boy, both there names are traditional and biblical and begin with T, should I search for a T name? if I dont will she feel left out? compromised with both there names, and as this will be the last one, I would like to go for something that I like and have always wanted, but the names are a bit out there! and I KNOW every one will hate! Cant think of any nice girl T names, but can think of loads of boy T names.

I think names do have to "go" together, yes, but they don't all need to have the same initial.

For example, Kian and Jaden go well together, as do Edward and Elizabeth.

But Janice and Jeremy don't, Imo.

What are your names that other people won't like?

Fivefingers · 16/12/2010 21:21

How about "Telisha"?

SantasNutellaFairy · 16/12/2010 21:22

Try us- maybe if we had some idea of what you like we could help?

Manicmummyhavinabiccy · 16/12/2010 21:24

My mum almost called me and my little bro Jeremy and Jimima! lol

One name I adore but is out there is Juniper Jean, its from a film I love, my parnter likes it but wont go with our surname Cooper likewise Alys - Alice cooper!

I quite like:

Tabitha
Tallulah
Tamsin
Temperance
Tess

However, also agree just because names have the same initial doesn't mean they go.

fibernachi · 16/12/2010 21:27

I think it's important that names work together, yes.

It'd be a little odd to have a Theodore and a Kevin or a Agatha and an Danni, surely.

But themes, mmm, I think you'd have to go with at least one of your themes. No need for it to be biblical and a T name. One or t'other would be fine.

Tabitha fit's both. I like it.

SantasNutellaFairy · 16/12/2010 21:28

Rather than Juniper, what about Genevieve? or Ginevra?

Manicmummyhavinabiccy · 16/12/2010 21:28

The trouble with most girls names are very close to my Tabithas name, there arnt that many girls T names, thought about going with the boys T names I like as boys as girls is quite popular but cant imagine a female tristian!

on the T theme

Talitha?

3nearly4 · 16/12/2010 21:29

I think my boys' names go together in that they are old names that are popular today but their origins are quite different.

Noah - Biblical, Finlay - Scottish and Oscar - Old English.

I don't think it matters.

That said, Jayden & Elizabeth would amuse me.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 16/12/2010 21:30

I don't think it's important that names go togetehr - but do think it's important they don't sound silly together (eg I know a brother and sister called Hector and Hester Hmm )...maybe that's the same thing?

Manicmummyhavinabiccy · 16/12/2010 21:31

My Tabithas nn is Tabby, her choise not mine! so thought kitty would go well, but people will thik i wanted a kitten not a child!lol

Tamara
Theodora
Tara
Tallulah

ValiumShimmer · 16/12/2010 21:32

They dont have to, but some combinations can seem like different parents chose them!

Noah, Finlay and Oscar although they all have different roots, they actually go well together.

But as a pp said something like Kiki and Edward or Elisabeth and Cody would make you wonder.

Manicmummyhavinabiccy · 16/12/2010 21:33

Do like Talitha, Tali nn but I use the kids full names when there naughty, Tabitha, Talitha, Tobias get here now! sounds like a tongue twister, lol

Tamar?

Tatyana?

BikeRunSki · 16/12/2010 21:44

ManicMummy I'm an Alice Cooper! No one under 25 finds it at all strange.

I don't my siblings names and mine would be considered to "go" by anyone else, but after 36-49 years, they seem like the most natural series of names in the world.

happynappies · 16/12/2010 21:51

Interesting that someone has said Edward and Elizabeth go together. I have an Edward and an Elizabeth - once we had the first one it kind of made it difficult to have a non-traditional name for the second. When we had our third everyone thought we'd go for another 'E' name, but we didn't...

HelenaRose · 16/12/2010 21:57

I'd think a third child, when it grew up, would feel left out for not having a 'T' name to go with its siblings.

LynetteScavo · 16/12/2010 23:08

Tatiana, not Tatyana.

What's wrong with Juniper Cooper? I think it sounds great!

pinkstinks · 17/12/2010 02:19

i used to have a great friend called Tanith I think it is of welsh origin :)
