DD1 has my surname and a name from DH's culture. We haven't been able to find a name from there that we like though for No. 2 and we don't want a name we don't like just to make it fit with DD1. Do you think it will be a problem to have 2nd child with English first name? When we visit in laws etc people do clock DD1's name as being from there and she likes that.

For English names we are thinking

Jocelyn for a girl - but DH only likes Josie

or

Solomon for a boy - with DH middle name

I can't see it as being a problem. Most of the so-called English names are from other cultures anyway (Hebrew, Greek etc).

If DH likes Josie, other possible long names are Josephine and Josette.

Solomon is GORGEOUS and I have it on my list. Solly is a very sweet nn, too.

Josefa is another variation (jo-see-fa)

I love Solomon. Fabulous name.

I think stick with one culture. Too much scope for confusion otherwise...

I think it sort of depends what the name and culture is. Parvati and Jocelyn would be a slightly odd combo, for example.
