Having trouble with girls names

Lauzifer · 15/12/2010 21:31

Me and my DP just can't agree on any girls names whatsoever.

He really likes Ayda and Francesca

What does everyone else think of these? And does anyone else have any good suggestions

I really like Ayda, but Francesca not so much (to me it feels very 80s).

What sort of names do you like?

Lauzifer · 15/12/2010 22:05

I like traditional 1920's 30's names but DP isn't so keen.

I like names like Betsy, Bessie and Ava

Francesca is nice.

How about Beatrice, Louisa, Clara, Josephine, Frances, Sarah, Genevieve?

Much prefer Ayda to be spelt Ada - never seen it with a y before!

Of the two, I like Francesca the most.

Ayda is the wife of Robbie Williams. Of the two I prefer Francesca, I think A(y)da is 1880's.
What about Elizabetha, you could then call her Betty, Betsy as a NN or Margaretha who could be Peggy?

CristinaTheAstonishing · 16/12/2010 10:44

I like both Aida and Francesca.

AllieW · 16/12/2010 10:49

I thought the Aida spelling was pronounced Eye- eeda, as in the opera (www.suite101.com/content/aida-verdis-opera-a54333)?

I like Francesca but prefer Frances.

Prefer Ada spelling.

Francesca was on our list but I don't like Frankie.
