alisha,roxanne or any other ideas!!!!!

just found out im having a girl after having 3 boys! i have always said that if i had a girl i would call her alisha although i quite like roxanne but now im not sure on either name.

whats the first thing you think of when you hear alisha or roxanne?

Alisha always sounds like a mispronunciation of Alicia.

I think Roxanne is a wonderful name. I'd think first of Alexander the Great, but after that, The Police.

Prefer Alicia to Alisha.

Not keen on Roxanne.

DSis is called Alicia (pronounced A-liss-ia initially but my grandma couldn't say it so it became the Alisha pronunciation before long) and she loves her name.

Roxanne is a nice name also, but for some reason makes me think of an 80's pop video.

hi all i was afraid that they did sound a but chavvy/council estate ish! my boys are callum, ayden and brandon.

i do really like the alicia (as in a-liss-ia)but its a friends dd name, think it might be a bit weird to have the same.

I know an Imogen Rose, but she isn't called by a nn. I can't think of one.

I'm afraid they do sound a bit... not very aspirational. Alicia, maybe Roseanna? Alison? Olivia? Octavia?

Maybe continue the celtic-esque theme? Erin?

Don't go for one without a phoenetic spelling though, and make sure to spell it in the normal way, or you are creating a world of trouble (and bad first impressions)

I thought Imogen was a misspelling/ anglicisation by Shakespeare of an older Irish word for 'daughter' (inghean). So a bit like 'colleen', which means girl.

We have an Imogen known as Immy. I've also heard of one known by Mimi. It is indeed Shakespeare's misspelling of Innogen. But I've seen some name books give the meaning as image, too. Our Imogen is Imogen Sophia so I like the fact that her name could mean Image of Wisdom!

As to the OP, not keen on Alisha or Roxanne. I quite like Alicia but with the Alissia pronunciation as others have mentioned.
