Very upset

More or less since I got pregnant my husband and I have been decided on George for a boy. We haven't told anyone as think it adds to the surprise at the end. I know it's hardly original but I thought it was unlikely to be used by people we know before bub is born. No such luck. My best friend's sister has used it and although she's not part of my everyday life my circle of friends will all be aware of the fact that our George came second. I feel like a seed of doubt has been planted and that I'll have to explain again and again that we had the name picked out from the beginning. I know this is a relatively ridiculous thing to get upset about but for us it's always been George for a boy and now it just doesn't feel special. Hope I don't come across as a total moron - I really do have more important things to be worried about - it's just it's really upset me and I'm not sure what to do. Any advice appreciated.

TBH it will be fine. Its a common name. Its not like you have both chosen a name thats not even in the top 1000

Right girls - I have calmed down now. What a daft thing to get so upset about - especially to the point of sobbing!! Thank you all so much for your advice, George it is. We just can't imagine our little boy being called anything else now.

Just tell anyone who asks that it's after George Bush. And say no more about it.

Glad you've calmed down Cupcake. Glad that you've stuck with George too.

Good for you... I really like George fwiw.

George is lovely.

It doesnt matter, people may make the connection for the first week, but then that's it.

I had a friend who had chosen Florence, but then a fortnight before her daughter came along, David Cameron's did. She changed the name, as she didnt want the association, and is now regretting her change of mind.
