after months of disagreement have finally decided to change dd4 birth cert from felicity cecily arabella to arabella felicity cecily .

the history is felicity was dh's only option but i disliked it . cecily was my prefered option . arabella is a compromise .

problem is i really feel felicity cecily even as a middle name doesn't flow properly , is to much of a tongue twister etc .also i think the initials afc could be a problem.

for these reasons i really want to remove cecily as a third middle but struggling to come up with an alternative .would like a name with a positive meaning

our surname begins with w and is 2 syllable .

options include

clara but initials afc again

octavia as she is dc8 but is this to long with the other 2 names and also initials afo

miriam love the meaning wished for child

rose after a close relative who is a rosalind which i don't want to use . the problem is with our surname itsounds like a stage direction . also is rose just a filler.

rosanna as above

gladys after my grandmother but too old fashioned

or should i stick with cecily

opinions gratefully received and any other suggestions

it's been grace and cecilia now because if in years to come she should decide to use her 3rd name either would go well with our surname (rose might not) and we would be happy with either grace or cecilia.

grace is probably more down to earth than cecilia and less of a mouthful when tagged on to arabella felicity and the initials afg are better imo than afc

the only advantage to cecilia /cecile is it may be easier to explain why cecily is on the few personalised things she acquired when she was days old .

to add insult to injury dh has now announced he loves the name cecilia having continuously vetoed it over the past year because of the simon and garfunkel song.

not so worried about taking some time to finalise her 3rd name as at last she has a first name.

thanks everyone for your help in mking this decision

3 names? are you spanish nobility? if not, i'd drop at least one...

LadyInaManger · 07/12/2010 14:13

lilly13 - OP made it clear that as all her children have 3 names then she would like to continue with this tradition Smile

Dont think Felicity Cicily works - sounds abit bonkers and like a tongue twister. I really wouldnt tie yourself in knots about this in real life middle names are almost totally irrelevant.

ShoppingDays · 07/12/2010 14:47

I agree that Felicity and Cecily within the same name will make it a tonguetwister. How about Cecilia instead?

ShoppingDays · 07/12/2010 14:49

Just read more posts above and you're already thinking about Cecilia :)

smilingserenely · 07/12/2010 15:26

yes i'm seriously wondering if should i start thinking about names for baby nine if we're lucky enough to conceive again . it took us over a year to finally agree on dd4's name .

a whole new thread needed i think .Smile Wink

funny thing is now i'm not being forced to call her felicity ( friends and relatives still keep referring to her by that name), i've grown to quite like it.

i think we may just stick with cecily as her thirs name as dh is loathe to change even to cecilia which would be my preference .
