Carter- pets name?

My DH and myself love the name Carter for a boy. It doesn't have many hits online, but one I read was someone saying it sounded like a pets name.

What do you think?

Good name?

My sister's friend has a gorgeous little toddler called Carter. I always thought of Carter USM but now I think of his cheeky chops!

Where I live there seems to be a bit of a fad for calling children traditional workers. I find it really quite odd. We know a Tanner and a Cooper (boys), a Miller and a Taylor (girls). I don't understand why people think of these as names at all.

Carter makes me think of Get Carter, and whilst it is a great iconic movie (the first one of course) Carter was a sadistic thug.

I think I must be too young for Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, but it's good to know about- i'd never heard of them! Guess it's not a very good link for the name- but I do still like it.

We were thinking Carter or Conrad- but my DS says not Conrad as sounds too hard, and it would be shorted to Connie which we don't like.

Connor would be a softer version of Conrad.

Not a pat's name imho. I haven't come across any Carters in the UK, but met a few in the USA (mostly from southern states)... It is a bit old fashioned from the 50-60s (well, at least in America) when I think of it...

Not a pet's name. I met a Carter in the US. She marries Mr Carter and was Carter Carter. I think it is fine for a boy or girl here. Grin
