Am I crazy to want to call her Zaria?

Having a girl and have fallen in love with the name Zaria (as in Zar-ia, not Maria). Everyone I've asked thinks it's too 'out there' or odd.

Is it just pregnancy hormones? Honesty appreciated. Thanks.

Think it's a lovely name. In 20 years time, no one will remember a car being called it (wel, apart from car geeks)

I have a younger sister called Zarina so quite similar! She is 11 now and has had loads of nice comments about her unusual name over the years. She mostly get called Zaz or Zazzy by family and friends which I think are cute nicknames!

I know a Zaria, she must be nearly 40 now.

No idea what car is called Zaria ... Car manufacturers use so many names these days (Leon, Felicia, Saphira, etc.) and these cars won't be round for very long anyway.

I like it, def not too out there and you see that's why you never tell people your name choices while pregnant! I thought the posters little sisters name was really cute and quite similar to Zaria. Iv a little cousin Zara though which I think is fab also used to babysit a Dania which isn't too far away either and iv always loved it! Anyways rambling now... Best of luck :)

No Muffin I don't really! But nothing here has changed my mind yet. It's been much more positive than I thought.

Azaria is the name of the baby child taken by dingoes in australia in the 80's. Azaria Chamberlain. I wouldn't use it, stick with Zara.

I think it's a lovely name. The thing about unusual names is that people get used to them. Once they've heard them used several times (i.e. every time they meet your DD) they stop being a name they've never heard of and become your DD's name instead IYSWIM.

I quite like it, but not as much as I like Zara or Zora (LOVE Zora).

Zaria has a slightly made up sounding quality to it, which puts me off a bit.

I think it is a pretty name, its unusual, but not so unusual that you think "blimmin hippies!"
