anyone ever considered changing dc's names?

after the age of about two,when they would likey notice,and you'd have to change by deed poll...

if you'd never loved their original name,and then you stumbled across the one

what would you do?
just leave it? put it in but just as a middle name,or change it altogether?

And not perfect bullying name at all.

My dd gets called 'Wissy'!! Claudia is a far cry.

It shouldn't matter whether you or we prefer Tanith or Sky, it is about your dd being known by her name and it not being fair to change it without her consent.

Wissy is short for Mirissa. She was supposed to be Miri (I chose the name purely cos I liked that nn), but somehow ds1 hijacked it and turned it into Wissy. Hopefully I can gradually steer it back to Miri. It's quite a hippy name too, cos it's a lovely beach in Sri Lanka.

FWIW, those who think the kids now 'own' their names...not sure about that. Maybe we are very disrespectful in our house, but no-one gets called by 'their' name, it's all nicknames, and many of them. Ds1 has a proper name now he goes to school and they call him that at school.

also i would never yell 'yer teas ready' as we live in hampshire and i have an rp accent,despite being dirt poor...

Im not trying to name bash, honest, but Sky is much nicer!! Trust me you have no regrets there! Is Tanith even a name? It reminds me in early pregnancy when I rang my hubby to say I'd found the name for our son: Tarquin. Pah! Can you imagine the lads calling that out during a game of footy?
