Huxley Wolfe Lang...your thoughts!

Hi there
My hubbie and I are keen to chose unusual baby names and we have always loved the name Huxley for a boy. My fathers middle name is Wolfe and combined with our surname Lang, we believe we have ticked the unusual box! I would love to know your thoughts!

I think Huxley is great. Middle name doesn't really matter as it rarely used - use a name that means something to you.

LetThereBeRock · 20/11/2010 16:13

Huxley is terrible. I do like Wolfe as a middle name though.

If you're giving him an unusual name, my advice (as one who had a v.v. unusual name!) is to give him a middle name that is "normal" then if he hates the attention that having an unusual name brings, he can opt to use his other name and be more anonymous.

Do you have boys already? With comicbook graphic novel names??

lollipopshoes · 20/11/2010 16:19

here's a thread on the subject of my "unusual" name

faverolles · 20/11/2010 18:52

I love the name Huxley, but always think of Huxley Pig (oink oink). Sorry!

belgo · 20/11/2010 18:53

Wolfe is lovely, but not sure on Huxley. It sounds American.

collision · 20/11/2010 18:55

the pig

BelligerentGhoul · 20/11/2010 19:00

My first thought was also Huxley Pig. A big no from me, sorry.

asdx2 · 20/11/2010 19:05

I like it but then again my first thoughts were Aldous Huxley author of A Brave New World rather than Huxley Pig.

saltyseadog · 20/11/2010 19:07

Love Wolfe as a middle name, but really not fond on Huxley. Sorry.

Liv77 · 21/11/2010 00:03

I instantly thought of Huxley Pig too, must have been because the theme tune was so catchy

onimolap · 21/11/2010 00:34

I thought Aldous Hucksley. It's not a name I'd go for.

I love Wolfe, and other wolfish names - couldn't persuade DH though.

Psammead · 21/11/2010 08:51

Quite like it!

AlpinePony · 21/11/2010 11:53

Jilly Cooper rang - you've just stolen her lead character for her next book.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 21/11/2010 13:34

I like it.

freerangeeggs · 21/11/2010 17:29

I thought Aldous Huxley. That guy had a cool name.

I actually love Huxley, not sure I'd have the nads to put it in first name position though.

With Wolfe it's maybe a bit much.

Huxley James or something sounds more classic and less crazy.

Secretwishescometrue · 21/11/2010 17:38

Huxley wouldn't be my cup of tea and to be honest first thing I thought was hmm wasn't that the name of the little boy in the Adams family? But on second thought I realised that was Puxley or sumit along those lines.... Sorry target over.... Would actually prefer Wolfe as a first name...

Secretwishescometrue · 21/11/2010 17:40

Tangent not target... Blush

FrameyMcFrame · 21/11/2010 17:59

how will you feel calling 'Huxley!' out in a busy play park?
If you're ok with that then it's fine for you.

I have an unusual name and although I hated it as a child as it made me feel self conscious, I now like it! :)

PaigeTurner · 21/11/2010 19:26

I love Huxley.

FairyArmadillo · 21/11/2010 23:45

Fabulous!

SirBoobAlot · 21/11/2010 23:53

Please tell me you're joking.

skippingturtle · 22/11/2010 08:59

I like Huxley, but don't think it goes well with Lang, sorry, too many Ls.
