What do you think of Marissa as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

I prefer the usual spelling, Marisa (the doubling of the "s" makes me think of harissa paste).

MuffinMouse · 19/11/2010 22:18

Prefer Melissa

Rhubarbgarden · 19/11/2010 22:42

Love it.

But I also prefer it with a single s.

MelinaM · 19/11/2010 23:47

Lovely name! x

Violet5 · 20/11/2010 13:56

I think it's pretty and a bit unusual without being to unusual, i had it on my list Smile

ValiumSingleton · 20/11/2010 16:50

Marissa cooper.

It's ok, bit 80s. Not keen. Prefer Marianne or Maribel. But I guess as they are more contemporary, then that would make Marissa more unusual (if you care).

MelinaM - Melina is on my baby name list for possible DC3 :)

BlueChampagne · 22/11/2010 12:59

At school with one in 70s (same spelling) - I like it.

darleneconnor · 22/11/2010 13:03

I like it. I like all the -issa names.

Nerissa is an alternative.

NorbertDentressangle · 22/11/2010 13:07

I also instantly thought of harissa paste.

Neither love nor hate it really.

MadreInglese · 22/11/2010 13:08

I like it. Melissa is on my short list but I admit I also like Marisa.

coatgate · 23/11/2010 15:39

Like it - Isn't there one in Frasier?
