Ok..... I know I shouldn't be jumping the gun as I'm currently going through IVF (9 great embryos so v. excited) but I'm trying to stay positive and the name ideas help!

My favourites are:

Emmeline (nn Emme pronounced "Emmy")

Aeva (like this version of Ava - saw it in a magazine)

Teddy (would register him as Edward but prefer Teddy)

Jack (love its simplicity but is it too common?)

Jake (been my favourite name for YEARS but one of DP's best mates has a 3 yr old Jake - would it be wrong to use it too? DP not keen although he loves the name.

Bobby (DP's favourite - would register him as Robert)

Sirname would be Brooks. Verdict everyone?

I like Emmeline. Aeva would be pronounced Eva (like paediatrician or encyclopaedia - it's the long 'e' sound). I like Edward since Teddy is a smashing nickname. Not too keen on Bobby Brooks, really.

AnnieDelores · 19/11/2010 10:45

I did think that about Bobby too......sounds a bit like a footballer which is why DP likes it I guess!

I like Jack, jake and Ted. Jake is my favourite. Don't think it matters about your DH friend having a Jake as it is a very popular name.

Prefer Emily to Emmaline, but love nn Emme.

Bobby Brooks does sound like a footballer, but I like the name Bobby, suits all ages.

Don't think it matter re the name Jake...

Good luck with the IVF....must be stressful, but you will get there...x

Like Emmeline and Teddy.
Hate the spelling of Aeva.

Balletpink · 19/11/2010 19:54

I like Emmeline but it's highly likely most people would continually mishear it as Emily. A lifetime of "No-not-Emily-It's-EMMELINE-E-M-M-E-L.... no, E..m..M" etc etc. Just something to consider.

Aeva I would definitely pronounce Eva. If you like Ava, why not have Ava?

Jake is my favourite. I don't think it matters that you know a Jake especially as the Jake you know is older.

Good luck with the IVF Smile

How would you pronounce Emmeline..? Is the ending line, as in Caroline, lin or leen..? Have often wondered...

hester · 19/11/2010 21:25

Just want to say very best of luck with the IVF. I really hope you get your little Emmeline/Jack/Aeva soon!

AnnieDelores · 19/11/2010 22:34

Thanks for the hints on pronunciation of Aeva, that helps. Also reassuring to hear about Jake.

TYPSICAL, you pronounce Emmeline with a "leen" I believe, but it can also be Emma - line. I prefer Emma - leen as in kathleen.

Will hopefully have my blastocyst transfer tmrw, although I've been quite poorly with OHSS so risk they might freeze my embryos and postpone. Would hate that!

How exciting, good luck for tomorrowSmile x

I love Teddy -Edward, Aeva lovely -but looks far nicer spelt Ava, Jack fab too. Not a fan of Bobby ..wasn't that one of Jade Goody'd son's? Ekk! Emmeline I don't like (sorry), how about Esme? It's quite similar to Emme, and Jake is very, VERY common popular at the mo!

I'd go with Edward, Ava or Jack, who knows you may get to use twoWink x

AnnieDelores · 20/11/2010 10:58

Thanks everyone. Will try to persuade DP to remove Bobby from the list! Just heard I'm going in for my blastocyst transfer at midday. Fingers crossed they "stick"! Looks like we have some we can freeze too if it doesn't work this time round. Here goes!
