makes me think of murder...sorry

GrimmaTheNome · 15/11/2010 23:43

Blowsy and overblown.

Dahlias smell rank too - not a good association.

SkylineDrifter · 16/11/2010 00:05

How about Delia? But she has to be dark haired for a name like that.

The blue Dahlia! It's a little 'old lady /Miss Marple' for me I'm afraid.

Delia sounds better, and how about Delila/Delilah - could also be shortened to Lila which I think is lovely! x

HelenaRose · 16/11/2010 09:39

I think it's lovely. Dahlias are beautiful!

Komondor · 16/11/2010 09:41

I like it.

Pasiphae · 16/11/2010 11:13

I love it.

I know a lovely Dahlia (adult) so I like it :)

LadyThompson · 17/11/2010 13:45

Don't use it! Grin

(I have one and am hoping there won't be a million of 'em by the time she starts school...)

Dummyhunter · 17/11/2010 14:07

I quite like it but how do you pronunce it?

LadyThompson · 17/11/2010 14:10

Well, the flowers (which I think are heartstoppingly beautiful) are pronounced Day-lia. Not sure why pronunciation is such a problem - I thought dahlias were quite well known.

Francagoestohollywood · 17/11/2010 14:15

I really like it. And it is the name of Bertie Wooster's formidable aunt Smile. Go for it!

Rhubarbgarden · 17/11/2010 18:48

I should like this name because I love flower names, and even better it isn't too popular. It even has a nice sound. But I just don't like dahlias, so I just can't get away from the blowsy and garish association. I want to like it but I can't.

fel1x · 17/11/2010 18:53

Made me think of murder as well
