What do you think of Sebastian as a boy's name?

Love it!!! It's DS3's middle name. We chose it because his brothers have their names for reason and I love Bach :)

Faaamily · 06/11/2010 16:47

Very nice name. Seb a good nickname, too.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 06/11/2010 16:51

love it.

eatyourveg · 06/11/2010 17:08

gets my vote too

dementedma · 06/11/2010 20:33

love it - but not Seb as a nickname. if you must abbreviate, go with Bastien

GoldenHaze · 06/11/2010 20:39

It's my step-son's name. Everyone calls him Baz. Ugh.

candyflossbaby · 06/11/2010 20:41

love love love it!

OkieCokie · 06/11/2010 20:50

Love it and it is our choice for either first or middle name for baby due anytime now. However the one reason it may get relegated to middle name is we really dislike Sebbie and worry it will be shortened to this.

LunarSea · 06/11/2010 20:53

Love it. Wouldn't have been able to persuade dh though.

mopsyflopsy · 06/11/2010 20:55

Sebastian is ok, but I really do not like Seb/Seba/Sebi (reminds me of sebacious = oily...). Bastian may be too close to bastard?

LetThereBeRock · 07/11/2010 10:39

Love it.

Guacamole · 07/11/2010 10:42

I like it, I was considering it for DS, but DH thought it sounded too posh. He has a thing about posh sounding names? He vetoed Henry too and I love Henry.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 07/11/2010 13:30

i really love it and am fine with all nickname variants

evamummy · 07/11/2010 20:45

I think the long form (Sebastian) is just a little too long to use regularly, and the short forms Seb/Sebba/Sebbie/Basty don't sound very appealing as a name imo.

I'd rather choose a 2 syllable name that won't need shortening and/or that has nicer nicknames. But that is just my opinion Smile.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 07/11/2010 20:49

It is DS's name, his nicknames are Bastian, Basil, Bas, and Seabass but mostly Seb

PinkieMinx · 07/11/2010 20:53

Don't like it - sorry - friend has a Sebastian (Sebbie) - sounds like a playground insult

CakeandRoses · 07/11/2010 21:00

Love it but agree with others on some potentially dodgy nicknames for it.

Basil's my fave Grin

hulabula · 07/11/2010 21:09

I'm not keen, mainly because I agree that it is unlikely to be used in its long form and the nicknames are not very nice - I really dislike Sebba/Seb/Sebbi, I think they lack a consonant perhaps...

cowboylover · 08/11/2010 21:26

I LOVE the name and if we have a boy it will be Sebastian; no discussion needed its both of our fav names since we where dating in college Grin

BelligerentGhoul · 08/11/2010 21:28

Love it. Don't like Seb though - it reminds me a bit of oozing acne or something.

Tanga · 08/11/2010 21:29

Love it - Seb is a great nickname. Bastion is a wee bit never-ending story for me.

BornAgainBokononist · 08/11/2010 21:32

and somebody called me Sebastian..
Really like it

diddl · 09/11/2010 07:57
