Ophelia, Felicity or Mirabelle....

Hi ladies, can I get your views on these names. I really like the name Ophelia but for obvious reasons (it's very morbid background) don't feel 100% confident about using the name. I also like the names Felicity and Mirabelle. Out of the 3, which do you like the best? Other suggestions are welcome Smile

I prefer Felicity. Love Ophelia as a name but could never use it for same reasons as you (very uperstitious and work in theatre). Nor personally keen on Mirabelle, a bit old fashioned for me

Felicity - its such a 'happy' name. Smile

Shouldn't Mirabelle be Mirabel? As in Mirabel from Malory Towers? :) Or was it St Claire's?

MrsvWoolf have you read 'A Childhood at Greehedges'? By Imogen Smallwood. Fascinating, if you're a fan. Do you know Anita etc? :)

I've read Finding Enid, and wish I had the idea first! Lots of soul searching and fish and chip eating by the sea but not a lot of particular revelation IMO. :).

MissFlick · 06/11/2010 15:45

Another vote for Felicity :)

greaseistheword · 06/11/2010 15:48

my dd2 (3) middle name is ophelia.

AnnieBeansMum · 06/11/2010 15:50

Felicity is beautiful!

edam · 06/11/2010 15:52

Felicity. Ophelia not good for the reasons the OP mentions. And dislike girls' names ending in Bel or Belle - not sure why just feel too ickle girly.

LetThereBeRock · 06/11/2010 19:29

Felicity is lovely. I love Ophelia too,but I don't like Mirabelle at all.

florilegia · 06/11/2010 20:42

I like Felicity or Mirabelle.

Ophelia sounds a bit like "feeble". Have the same problem with Phoebe.

Duffstuff · 06/11/2010 21:06

Thankyou so much for all your comments. Im loving Felicity at the moment but struggling to convince my DH. He likes Hannah, which although I dont mind, would much prefer one of the above Grin

MerryMarigold · 06/11/2010 22:44

Not really any, though Felicity far and away the best of the bunch. Prefer Hannah. How about Miriam?

lumplard · 07/11/2010 12:13

Ophelia is a beautiful name. I am pregnant with DC 2 and considering it but I know DP will probably not be keen. The tragedy of Ophelia doesn't sway me at all. I used to love Helena Bonham Carter's Ophelia when I was younger, so beautiful and enchanting. But I shouldn't go on like this... as I say DP is bound to veto it!

ellesabe · 07/11/2010 20:28

I like Felicity the best and would put it in the same category as Penelope and Dorothy - also lovely imo!

NormanNorris · 07/11/2010 21:17

I like Mirabel but spelt this way.
