I never knew Marfa could ever be spelt that way - not really keen on the spelling but glad to hear she did have a sense of humour about it Grin

I like Martha too.

I actually know a Martha (adult) who is very nice so that probably influences me.

Would be nice for a wee girl I think :)

Sarsaparilllla · 01/11/2010 13:23

I think Annabel is a bit dull, prissy, sounds like an extra/side character in an Enid Bylton book. Shortening it to Anna is even more boring.

Martha I think sounds pretty, classic, creative, artistic

IngridFletcher · 01/11/2010 13:26

I have a Martha. She is beautiful with big blue eyes and long curly honey coloured hair (so pffffttttt - that a a raspberry by the way).

cherrybea · 01/11/2010 13:35

I like them both, they both sound pretty to me and I can imagine a pretty little girl with either name. Annabel edges it for me though.

mathanxiety · 01/11/2010 15:57

I think of hens when I hear the name Martha. Lots of clucking, feathers... (sorry to mums of Marthas)

Annabel is a dashing name imo, flirty, pretty.

Komondor · 01/11/2010 16:05

Love Annabel.

I'm afraid I don't like Martha.

christabell · 01/11/2010 16:28

I think Martha is lovely.

Don't like Annabel, either too flowery or very jolly hockey sticks. Anna is much nicer and more elegant.

randomimposter · 01/11/2010 16:35

what christabell said

lilly13 · 01/11/2010 16:38

Martha and Marfa are different names. Marfa is a slavic/greek name and Martha is a nordic/scandinavian name by origin...

valiumskeleton · 01/11/2010 17:31

I love them both. They sound like sisters.

bendelicious · 01/11/2010 20:32

Thankyou so much - it is the first time I have felt really torn over a name Smile

very nice. My friend's two daughters are called those names.

FrameyMcFrame · 01/11/2010 20:50

prefer Martha to Annabel, it's less common too.

PGWomble · 01/11/2010 21:05

Annabel(le) is gorgeous. My sister's name- she uses Annie as a nn.

I also like Martha, but think it seems to be getting very popular, if that bothers you...

Doozie · 01/11/2010 21:11

Annabel - this name has really grown on me. Can't say the same for Martha.

bendelicious · 01/11/2010 23:59

What do you think of these combinations:

Annabel Martha Rosalyn(family name) Surname

or

Martha Annabel Rosalyn Surname ???

Is two middle names too much?

OP posts:
smother · 02/11/2010 07:44

Why not stick to one middle name,
Annabel Rosalyn or Martha Rosalyn Surname, and save the name you don't use for your next DD?

Even though I prefer Martha (by a looooong way), I think you should go for Annabel because you're listing that name first and so I think that unconsciously reveals your preference!

mathanxiety · 02/11/2010 14:55

I like Annabel Martha Rosalyn. Lovely combination. I don't think two mns is too much.

bendelicious · 02/11/2010 17:05

Thanks smother - perhaps your right. Maybe I am subconciously swinging towards Annabel Hmm.

Thanks for your feedback Mathanxiety Smile
