We are expecting our lovely little boy in feb and after a tricky start where any name I suggested my dh said was a dogs name! We finally have a list of names we both like. Would love some opinions please
Edward William
Henry George
Theodore joseph
Digby George
Percy George
Barnaby Thomas

I think Henry is in the lead but our surname begins with h also, do people think this would be a problem?

Edward William - I like Ted and Ned.
Henry George - Okay
Theodore joseph - I like Ted, Ned and Theo
Digby George - sorry, no.
Percy George - sorry, no
Barnaby Thomas - Mmmmm. I like Barnaby, but I don't like Barney

An H would not be a problem, I think, thought it may be a moutful.

theretheyare · 31/10/2010 09:54

I'm not very keen on Digby or Percy but they're all nice names.

I don't think the alliteration is a problem so long as the name go together.

excitedfirsttimer · 31/10/2010 10:09

Great thanks for the feedback. Am sure you are right about digby, that is one of mine my dh is not too keen either, he is more sensible! Just sounds cute to me. A little Teddy or Henry would be very cute too. This is our first baby I know there are some books called horrid Henry are these very popular would other parents all think horrid when we said Henry?

Horrid Henry MIGHT happen but surely only by older children?

In other words his own friends will have long got to know the name before they learn to read, so they will associate the name with him, not the books.

diddl · 31/10/2010 12:13

Don´t like Percy but like all the others.

Fave is prbably Digby tbh.

I have a 3 year old called Henry George, still love it, always had positive comments

emmyloo2 · 31/10/2010 21:27

Love Edward, Henry and Theodore. Also love George although you have only proposed that as a middle name. Digby, Percy and Barnaby are a little to try-hard for my taste. But that's just me.

BelligerentGhoul · 31/10/2010 21:29

Edward William - like both of these but not so fond combined
Henry George - dislike
Theodore joseph - like
Digby George - dislike
Percy George - dislike
Barnaby Thomas - LOVE this :)

LoopyLoupGarou · 31/10/2010 22:38

Sorry, but Percy is horrible. Not keen on Digby either, but like the rest. Love Theo.

EightiesChick · 31/10/2010 22:41

I like:

Edward William
Henry George
Theodore joseph

readywithwellies · 31/10/2010 22:43

Digby and Barnaby are dogs names IMO

Percy - my immediate thoughts are Percy the Penis or Percy Pig Blush

All of the others are lovely.

NiceCuppaT · 31/10/2010 23:16

Like them all except barnaby
I wouldnt choose Edward or henry however, as too popular for my liking.
Digby and Percy are great names!
Do you like monty?

mathanxiety · 01/11/2010 00:17

I love Barnaby Thomas

excitedfirsttimer · 01/11/2010 09:33

thanks everyone, its great to get some opinions, as we have already told everyone it is a boy be are determined to keep the name a secret so we have at least one surprise left, but it means I can't canvas friends and family about our shortlist. Loads of good points, I had not even thought about Percy Pigs! Any other suggestions for a middle name for Edward if people are not sure about Edward William?

OP posts:
clarabellarocks · 01/11/2010 11:03

All lovely but Digby and Percy - sorry

noeyedear · 01/11/2010 11:19

Edward William - Maybe too many syllables. What about Edward and a one syllabe name? Edward George for example.
Henry George - like
Theodore joseph - Same syllable problem for me, but I might just have 'ishoos'
Digby George - Don't like `digby- sounds like a dog
Percy George - dislike
Barnaby Thomas- Love Barnaby

mathanxiety · 01/11/2010 13:48

Edward Barnaby
Edward George
Edward Michael
Edward Patrick
Edward Francis
Edward Luke

Edward William has too many Ws running into each other.
