What do you think - like any of these?

I really like Mirabelle, unfortunately it doesn't sound right with our last name.
The others are also pretty and unusual (which is good!)

izzybiz · 29/10/2010 19:25

My name is Emmaline!
Always being complemented on it Smile

PineappleJuice · 29/10/2010 19:33

Emmeline I think, very pretty

Ineedsomesleep · 29/10/2010 19:37

izzybiz do you have any frustration with the name? Only our DD is Emmeline and people always think she's called Emily or can't pronounce her name properly if they see it written down.

Still love the name though [hsmile]

Love Emmeline, then Mirabelle. Not so keen on Rosalind.

tummytickler · 29/10/2010 20:31

Mirabelle

valiumskeleton · 29/10/2010 20:33

I love Mirabelle but can you spell it just Mirabel or what about Maribel? Maribel is lovely too.

Rosalind is very elegant but kind of hard to say. Emmeline is very Panhurst and I love 'the pankhurst names' as I think of them. BUT it is very similar to Emily and I think that that would cause confusion .

BikeRunScream · 29/10/2010 20:39

Emmeline, pretty, with a strong historical namesake. Our paper girl is called Emmeline.

LetThereBeRock · 29/10/2010 20:42

I love Emmeline.

thisisyesterday · 29/10/2010 20:46

i love Mirabelle and Emmeline

Bagabee · 29/10/2010 20:50

Rosaline is lovely but I think the other two are too try-hard - sorry!

reddaisy · 29/10/2010 20:52

Like Rosalind best. Have you thought about Evangeline?

izzybiz · 29/10/2010 21:08

ineedsomesleep Yes, I do get called Emily alot, especially when telling someone my name over the phone!
I also have to spell it for people alot too, I like the spelling Emmeline, but my parents took mine from the Hot Chocolate song! Grin

Littlewhitethings · 29/10/2010 22:54

Thanks, lots to think about! Good point re spelling out Emmeline every time for those who mistake it for Emily, I didn't think of that. RedDaisy I'm not keen on Evangeline (but thanks for the suggestion) because it is obviously too like the word Evangelical which is too religious for me as such. PLus it will probably go straight to Eva/Evie/Eve which is everywhere right now. Plus imagine having to spell it out everywhere!

Valium, Mirabelle I would still keep as that spelling, rather than Mirabel as Mirabel seems too harsh. (I do like Annabel instead of Annabelle though).

MrsvWoolf, I do like the lind part of Rosalind as although Rosamund is more classic perhaps I feel "lind" is somehow more feminine than "mund" Confused

Guess that DD will have to live with it then [hsmile].

It did cross our minds that this would happen but just wasn't prepared for everyone getting the name wrong.

Don't think it is because she has an unsual name though, mine name was very common when I was born and I'm forever having to spell it out and my middle name is Jane which people always spell Jayne and you can't get more plain than Jane.

NothereisnobodylurkingbehindU · 30/10/2010 09:09

Rosalind means Beautiful rose and Rosamund means Rose of the world. Both nice.

Bumperlicious · 30/10/2010 09:16

I like them all :)

gingerali · 30/10/2010 09:31

i have an Aunt Rosalind- we call her Aunty Ros :)
