DS's middle name is Montgomery. He has a pretty mundane first name though

I know a Crispin (Cris). He's a big bloke as well, not the weedy little Quentin Crisp wannabe that you lot think a Crispin should be [hwink]

Why not? There was an author whose real name was Bruce Montgomery, who wrote detective stories under the pseudonym Edmund Crispin.
